Let me be clear: While I voted to extend our RideChoice and Paratransit program with Valley Metro that benefits our seniors, students, and those who are disabled, I am opposed to further subsidizing expanded public transportation bus routes and road diets with your tax dollars like we have been seen in other urban and suburban cities. Surprise is not Phoenix.

Surprise extends Valley Metro agreement for transit services - Daily Independent Surprise is extending its agreement with the Valley Metro Regional Public Transit Authority for fiscal year 2025 transit services.

Another fiscal year in the books. We put more police officers in schools, brought back recycling, and cut the property tax rate for the first time in decades. I am grateful for you putting your faith in me and I promise to keep fighting for you!

ALSO Last night I voted against the Sales Tax Increase. I did so because we have an $86 million reserve built into our budget that we should be utilizing before we raise taxes on our residents in this economy.

Last night I made the motion to lower property tax rates by 25%. The vote passed unanimously. Surprise homeowners are finally getting some relief in the midst of crippling inflation.

Surprise wrapped up spring training with a bang! Residents came together for a night of fun, food, and fantastic music at the field. Seeing everyone enjoying themselves tonight was truly heartwarming. Huge thanks to Sports and Tourism for organizing such a fantastic event!

Out of the Park Music Fest

In case you hadn't heard, recycling is back!

How to be prepared for your designated pick-up day collection:
•Trash and recycle bins must be curbside by 6 a.m.
•Place bins in the street against the curb, with the handle side closest to your home.
•Ensure both containers are at least four feet away from each other and from nearby fences, light posts, mailboxes or other obstacles.
•Keep all vehicles a minimum of 15 feet away from the bins.
•Ensure no trash or contaminated items are in your blue recycle bin.
•Do not bag any of your recyclables.

Recycling Rules:
•Items allowed in the recycle bins are paper (no shredded paper), approved plastics represented by the number 1 or 2 inside the recycling symbol, cardboard, aluminum or tin cans and glass bottles.
•All recyclable items should be lightly rinsed, if necessary, and completely dry before going into the curbside recycling bin.
