Nassau County could be on the verge of a financial meltdown.

💵 The 2025 budget, proposed by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman's administration, "threatens the county's long-term financial stability," according to a 28-page report by an oversight committee.

If adopted at today's vote 📆, the budget could land the county in a $345 million deficit in 3 years, the report says.

10,000 People Mourn On Anniversary Of Oct. 7 Terrorist Attacks 10/08/2024

Yesterday marked one year since the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks against Israel. An estimated 10,000 people joined together last night to remember the lives lost.

Omer Neutra, a 22-year-old from Plainview, was among the hostages taken that day. A year later, he remains in Hamas captivity. It is unknown if he is living or dead. His longtime friend Ira Kohler, a fellow Plainview native and IDF soldier, shared his story.

“We will either have the opportunity to watch his mother, Orna, give him a huge hug, or we will watch his mother bury him in the ground and say her final goodbyes,” Kohler said.
