RPAS & GIS 11th & 12th Grade students took a trip to Green Lakes State Park earlier this week!

Students conducted Drone operations for mapping, photos and video of the area! They also used GPS devices for Geocache & hiking activities!

Later we brought out some outdoor games to have a good time before the end of the school as our Juniors move on to become seniors and our seniors move toward becoming high school graduates!!!

SCSD Career and Technical Education programs aim to empower students with the technical, academic, and professional leadership skills that will prepare them for college and career success. We’re proud to spotlight our students who are hoping to pursue careers in the pathways that they have studied in high school!

Today, learn about PSLA at Fowler High School junior Israel Toe, who is studying in his school’s Computer Forensics CTE pathway. Israel hopes to work in IT, cybersecurity, or computer engineering!

“When I was in 8th grade at Lincoln, I was given a list of high school CTE programs,” Israel shared. “I didn’t know what CTE was, but I saw the word ‘computer,’ so I picked Computer Forensics! As a kid, I always wanted to make my own game. I thought this program would be all hacking… in reality, I’ve learned how investigations are structured, how to format them, things like that. I really like to see how things work. I wasn’t aware of how many ways you can get information from a computer. When you delete a file to your recycle bin, and then empty the recycle bin, there’s still a lot of evidence left behind.”

We love to see our Career and Technical Education (CTE) students enjoying opportunities to become ! PSLA at Fowler High School students in their school’s Geospatial Intelligence and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems PSLA RPAS CTE programs recently took a trip to SUNY ESF, where they learned about drone technology through the STRATUS 2024 conference. At this gathering of industry professionals, scientists, and students, they heard about the latest advancements in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) technology.

“It’s really interesting to see what people are doing with drones in different fields,” PSLA senior Baraka Enock, who recently earned his FAA 107 professional drone pilot certification, said. “I’m going to college to study Aerospace Maintenance, so I plan to work with planes and focus on commercial applications. This has really motivated me to see if I can do something with my license and the skills I’ve gained in the drone field!”

SCSD Families: Please be reminded that all SCSD schools and offices will be closed on Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day.

In addition, because we did not use our allotted snow days for the school year, schools will also be closed for all students and staff on Friday, May 24, 2024, and Tuesday, May 28, 2024!

Talk about : Two PSLA at Fowler High School seniors have become the first students in their school’s Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program to take and pass the NYS EMT test this school year – making them officially eligible to work as EMTs in New York State!

Congratulations to Muneera Adam and Michael Thompson! Muneera will be attending Le Moyne College next year, where she plans to study Nursing; and Michael will be attending Howard University, where he plans to study Criminology. We’re proud of both of you and wish you the best!

Congratulations to all of the Pathways in Technology Early College High School (PTECH) 10th grade students within SCSD, who participated in the PTECH Signing Day event held on OCC's Campus on Wednesday!

PSLA at Fowler's PTECH RPAS & PTECH CIS students joined PTECH students from Henninger and ITC to officially sign off on earning College level credits while still in High School!

Eventually students will begin making their way up to college campuses to take classes before they each graduate from High school.

RPAS students earn college credits through Mohawk Valley Community College!
