We had a blast last week celebrating the ribbon-cutting at Moyer Carriage Lofts last week!
Together with Carmina Wood Design, we helped renovate this historic building into a mixed-use space with 128 apartments and office space.
Learn more about this renovation: https://hb1872.build/project/moyer/
I spy with my little eye...
We love this Easter Egg hidden in the background of this photo of the Moyer Carriage Lofts, our most recently completed project here at HB.
The Moyer Carriage Lofts are now fully renovated!
We were the general contractor on this $39 million project.
And we loved turning this historic building into residential apartments.
The final spaces also include some office space and common amenities on the ground floor.
There are 128 apartments and 166 beds.
We don't only build buildings—we build our community.
We pledge to collaborate to engage our neighborhoods, establish a diverse workforce, and encourage success for all who choose to live and work in Upstate New York.
But don't take our word for it.
Here's what Raquan Pride-Green from Blueprint 15 has to say:
"Hueber Breuer Construction has stood out as an outstanding partner to Blueprint 15, supporting our community initiatives.
Our youth navigators benefited greatly from a hands-on educational experience at their offices, gaining insight and understanding of the construction industry.
The firm’s dedication to grassroots collaboration and their meaningful contributions have made a significant impact solidifying their role as a valued ally not only in our collective efforts but also in supporting the broader community."
Communities don’t often have the advantage of being able to plan for exponential growth until they’re in it. However, Central New York has the unique opportunity to do just that. Because there is time to plan, there’s a chance to address the region’s current and upcoming demand for housing without creating unsustainable, inequitable conditions that often result from significant economic investment. CenterState CEO convened a Housing Task Force in the summer of 2023 to examine interrelated challenges and make policy recommendations that can be implemented under existing laws and economic conditions, while maintaining equity as a core tenant. On this episode of Talk CNY, presented by NBT Bank, Housing Task Force co-chairs Andy Breuer, president of Hueber-Breuer Construction, and Jo Anne Gagliano, president of EDR - A Better Environment discuss the Task Force’s work and the solutions needed to build an equitable future. CNY is experiencing a construction boom.
Projects like the I-81 teardown and the Micron plant build in Clay are putting construction companies to the test.
They're also presenting additional opportunities, like the need for additional multi-family housing units throughout CNY.
We're going to need a strong local workforce to handle all the work ahead.
CNY Central interviewed our President, J. Andrew Breuer, on the situation:
Central New York braces for construction boom, with opportunities and challenges ahead Panelists at this discussion want Central New York to take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead even if the road ahead is still taking shape.
Happy Women in Construction Week!
We have so many women on our team that we'd like to highlight.
But to start, we'd love to give a shoutout to Annette Schilling.
She's been with us for more than 10 years, originally as an Assistant Project Manager. She's now officially our Health & Safety Manager.
Here she is with our Health & Safety Director, Josh Zona, accepting a safety award we received from AGC.
Safety is one of our core values here at Hueber Breuer and we're grateful to Annette for all her hard work keeping our team safe.
Thanks so much, Annette!

Did you now that we were the General Contractor for Hancock International Airport's 147,000 sq. ft. renovation back in 2013?
The LEED® Gold Certified addition, renovation, and site-wide utility improvements included connecting two concourses of the airport.
It also includes the expansion of the existing baggage handling system with the installation of eight conveyor lines and associated terminal security access equipment.
Complete replacement of the existing terminal’s mechanical system and the creation of a new central passenger screening checkpoint was also part of the work.
The project was executed over 22 phases to ensure there was no interruption to airport operations—imperative to maintaining 24-hour, 7-days-a-week airline travel schedules.
To reduce the overall impact of the building on the environment and minimize energy usage, conservation measures such as premium efficient motors, energy recovery HVAC systems, low-flow lavatory fixtures, rainwater harvesting, and recycled building materials are incorporated.

Did you know that we commissioned this gorgeous mural at 126 N Salina St. downtown?
It's called Clinton Serenade and depicts a moonlit Erie Canal.
We love this shot that Marie Morelli took of the mural and our new sign.
And, of course, we love our new satellite office downtown.
Wise words from MLK that resonate today and every day
Hueber Breuer has been building our community since 1872.
We'd like to honor those who came before us:
Louis Hueber, Sr.
Francis J. Hueber
Francis S. Hueber
Vladimir Breuer
We're so proud to carry on the legacy of our family name.
We can say we're great all day.
But we also have the awards to back it up.
We've won awards for excellence in project safety, project supervision, and craftsmanship.
Most notably, we've ranked #1 in project safety 12 out of 13 years by the Associated General Contractors of New York State.
Have you taken a trip lately?
If so, you've probably seen our projects spotlighted at the Syracuse Hancock International Airport.
Watch our signage come to life!
TBT: The Hueber Brothers completed the Thornden Park Water Tower over 100 years ago.
Originally called the Thornden Standpipe, it's now named after a former city water engineer.
When it was constructed, engineers boasted that if every house in the neighborhood flushed their toilets at the same time, there would be no drop in pressure.
The masonry work on the 77 x 66 ft steel tank was done by our ancestors.
What an incredible LEGO model of this building! Those details!
So delighted to be working on the renovation and preservation of this historic Syracuse building.
You may have noticed that Utica has been getting some major renovations lately.
We're proud to help rebuild the area and make it a destination.
A few of the Utica projects we've worked on recently (shown below) include:
+ The Nexus Center
+ The Doyle
+ The Sullivan
What's your favorite spot in Utica?
Downtown Syracuse, here we come!
Have you spotted the new sign spotlighting our downtown hub yet?
It looks great both day and night!
TBT to last year when we celebrated our 150th anniversary at the Inns of Aurora.
Thank you to our amazing team that's building CNY!
We're proud to employ veterans here at HB.
One of the newest members of our team, Jonathan Farewell, has more than 17 years of construction experience.
He was a carpenter for the US Navy from 2005 to 2011. Most recently, he did carpentry and masonry for the US Army.
He started with the HB team as an Assistant Project Manager this summer, and we're so grateful to have him here.
Welcome to the team, Jonathan!
We love when our interns decide to stay with us.
Liam Coyle started with HB as a Project Management Intern this summer and is now an Assistant Project Manager.
He's thrilled to have been given this full-time opportunity as he believes in the work we do for the community.
Welcome to the team, Liam!
ICYMI: The house is red now...
Proud to be building up Utica with the addition of the Nexus Center!
This $60 million community project completed in November 2022 includes a regulation three-rink hockey facility, spectator seating, locker rooms, and fitness training.
We were in charge of the Design-Build and worked with VIP Architectural Associates and Perkins&Will on the project.
Have you visited the Nexus Center yet?
Training the next generation of construction professionals in our community is our calling.
This week, a group of high school and college students from Blueprint 15 came to HB HQ.
Two of our Assistant Program Managers, Callie Cushman and Liam Coyle, introduced the students to our Moyer project.
The students learned how to read the drawings and participated in an activity to prepare them for the world of construction.
We can't wait to see these students build CNY!
Check out our new HB-branded equipment 🏗️ 🚧
We had to get some shots before they head out into the field and get dirty.
This is the equipment that's building CNY!
