Celebrate and the joy of reading by sharing a favorite childhood book with your kiddo. Talk about why the book is special to you and point out your favorite parts. Discuss what's happening in the story and point out things on the page. Ask questions such as: "What do you think will happen next?" or "What is this?" Reading together helps build your little one's listening skills, vocabulary, and attention span and is a great opportunity to bond and create positive memories together.

Big thanks to the many families and early childhood partners who joined us, to Andyroo & the Andyrooniverse for bringing his amazing music back to Syracuse, and to Destiny USA for allowing us to partner in their event series. Children develop creativity, social skills, and fine motor skills with open-ended art projects where they can make choices, use their imaginations, and create with their hands. Experiencing teamwork helps little ones develop their social and early literacy skills. This , grab some materials and work together! Build a fort out of pillows, blankets, or cardboard. Go on a nature scavenger walk together and create a list of things you would like to spot while you’re out and about like flowers, a bumblebee, a bird, and so on. Solve a puzzle together or even better – create one!

Celebrate by whipping up a special snack with your child! Following a recipe and cooking together is a fun way for young children to practice everything from math and literacy skills to large and fine motor skills.

It's the 2024 Week of the Young Child, and we're celebrating with daily themed activities encouraging movement and healthy lifestyles through music, food, and art!

On this , collect materials from around your house to create an instrument - pots and pans, rubber bands, wooden sticks, combs, straws, aluminum cans, rocks, rice, etc. - and play along to your favorite songs.
