“This two-day AutoCAD C3D training allows us to implement best practices while fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among our team members. This enhances our aviation practice's performance by improving efficiency in work-sharing across the country.” Posh Supupramai, Aviation BIM Services Manager
"It was such an honor to contribute to this amazing project. From the very inception of the Concourse A expansion, we collaborated with the airport and our design and construction teammates with one goal in mind: to enhance the customer experience at Gerald R. Ford International Airport. It took a complete team effort to design the project, despite the uncertainty of the pandemic, and then build it with minimal disruption once the terminal was operating again. Congratulations to the entire team on an incredible job, and thank you for the opportunity!" Michael Holdwick, Chief Engineer, C&S Companies
Ford Int’l Kicks Off Expansion Program in Concourse A - Airport Improvement Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) in Grand Rapids, MI, was on the cusp of breaking ground to expand its Concourse A in April 2020 when COVID-19 brought the entire industry to an eerie halt.
✈️ Project Spotlight | Accelerated Sound Insulation Program | 📍 Washington
The Port of Seattle’s “Accelerated” Sound Insulation Program looks to rapidly acoustically treat up to 140 single-family residences, 903 apartment units in 18 apartment complexes, and seven places of worship within its noise-eligibility boundary by the end of 2026.
To complete this work in this fast-paced program phase, the C&S team has relied on decades of national sound insulation experience to craft a phasing plan to meet this critical delivery timeline.
One of the first orders of business was to craft effective yet flexible policies and procedures that
are adaptable to a variety of construction delivery models and meet both the FAA’s national requirements and the expectations of the Seattle Airport District Office.
Managing participant expectations involves communicating program requirements, treatments, and details to all interested individuals and organizations to avoid confusion and manage expectations regarding what treatments will be provided or how the process is executed.
With C&S’s capacity and depth of resources, we could begin work on all phases of this program simultaneously. Each phase also requires varying approaches and methods. Our ability to develop and plan out each phase and collectively roll that into an overall program schedule has allowed us to establish a clear path for the client and specific milestones that are key in ensuring successful program completion by the end of 2026.
To date, all single-family homes were identified for construction at the start of the program, and a small number of new single-family participants have entered the program recently and are currently in design. Design has been completed for all apartment complexes and places of worship. The construction contract for the apartment phase of the program has been awarded and is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2024. Places of worship were advertised for bid in July 2024 and are expected to start construction in 2025.

Can you take away good business principles at a rock n roll concert? 🤘🏽
"Business lessons from a rock & roll show? Actually, yes. I had the good fortune to attend the Foo Fighters concert last night in San Diego with my son. While my original intent was only to be entertained, I couldn't help but notice some important things that I'll apply to my business life. Most obvious was the 100% commitment of leader Dave Grohl to provide an exceptional experience for his audience (clients). While the other band members took breaks, he gave 110% for three straight hours infusing his unique brand of self-effacing and humble humor with talent beyond measure. His ability to make a connection with the audience was above and beyond what I've experienced with any other rock star. Applying that commitment to making sure our clients (audience) have the best-ever experience delivered by exceptionally talented individuals resonated with me. That's what we strive for each day at C&S Companies I'm not quite sure, yet, how to apply the accordion that was worked into a couple of acoustic songs, but I might be able to figure that out eventually!" C&S Companies, CEO Michael Hotaling

What's your favorite flavor?
On May 20, 1932, Amelia Earhart took off from Newfoundland and became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic, landing in Ireland after 14 hours and 16 minutes. Despite technical difficulties, her flight succeeded, earning her the United States Distinguished Flying Cross. Today, July 24, would be Amelia's 127th birthday.
Amelia Earhart was a pioneer who still inspires women in aviation today! We asked C&S Companies Senior Consultant, Aviation & Sustainability, Mia Held, to share how Amelia has impacted her:
“Some of us have great runways already built for us. If you have one, take off. But if you don't have one, realize it is your responsibility to grab a shovel and build one for yourself and for those who will follow after you.” Amelia Earhart
Some people remember Amelia Earhart as an incredible aviator and a privileged woman. While Amelia was born into wealth, her family struggled financially by the time she was a teenager, and she worked several part-time jobs to scrape together the money to buy her bright red Lockheed Vega. Amelia’s tenacity is a story of perseverance. While she was born with a “great runway,” she later picked up her shovel and built her path to become the first woman to fly solo over the Atlantic. Her runway paved the way for the women after her, myself included, to have the amazing world of aviation open to our exploration.
Advice for Aspiring Women in Aviation: Let nothing stop you! Work multiple jobs to make it happen, meet new people, try new things, volunteer, dream big dreams, and know that there are endless opportunities and so many allies rooting for your success and ready to lend a hand.

Wishing all a safe and happy 4th of July!
Traditionally today is a big grilling day and we are sharing a few tips for our Health & Safety team:
As summer reaches full swing and we gear up for 4th of July celebrations…fireworks and daily temperatures aren’t the only heat sources rising…
Don’t forget about your grill! An often-neglected step in BBQ prep is cleaning BEFORE you cook. Accumulation of grit/grease, and close proximity to your home or garage can lead to catastrophe, and not just for your eyebrows.
✅ Clean your grill!
✅ Be sure it is on a flat surface
✅ Do not leave it unattended while in use

Dan's team was able to raise over $20,000 and the C&S Foundation proudly contributed to the event. This year's event raised a whopping $1.6 million and over the past seven years, raised over $10 Million! Bravo!

This is maybe a commitment we should not make ;) Do you have a suggestion for July's board?
"We aim to give our younger staff that ability and empowerment to make choices on projects and their career growth. Take control of that and see what you can become." Nick McLaughlin, P.E.
