In 2013, Travis launched Le Moyne's undergraduate Arts Administration program, later adding a graduate degree and several online certificate programs. His 2022 book, Orchestra Management: Building Relationships in Turbulent Times, led to the creation of the very first Online Advanced Certificate in Orchestra Management in the US. The certificate provides emerging orchestra professionals with the tools and knowledge to navigate the complexities of the 21st-century orchestra. Alongside his role as Chair of Visual and Performing Arts, Travis is a frequent guest conductor of all-county and area all-state orchestras, and has performed as a section violinist with the orchestras of Syracuse, Charleston and Greensboro, as well as the Eastern Philharmonic Orchestra at Eastern Music Festival.
We are all grateful for Travis’ commitment to his students, his love of the arts, and his drive to educate folks about the important role arts administrators play in making art! Share a comment if you feel the same!

In celebration of Indigenous People’s Day, we honor the Onondaga Nation, the original people on whose land Le Moyne College stands, and the many artists and arts administrators of the five tribes.

- Meet Alicia Suskin (M.S. '19)
Alicia Suskin is the Founder and Owner of her own small business Alicia Suskin, LLC - Birth and Postpartum Doula. She offers a variety of support options during pregnancy, birth and postpartum, all of which can be virtual, in-person, or a mix of both.
Upon catching up with Alicia, here's what she had to say:
Q) What do you do as the Founder and Owner of Alicia Suskin, LLC and how did Le Moyne College's Arts Administration program prepare you for this job?
A) "A big part of what I do as a trained Birth and Postpartum Doula is providing emotional support throughout pregnancy and postpartum, as well as assessing needs and referring to local resources. I also provide physical support during labor, and can help with lactation and infant feeding, simple meal preparation, light household chores, and more during the postpartum period. Owning a small business that serves the community has a lot of parallels to running a nonprofit organization. The lessons from marketing, financial management, and leadership have stuck with me to feel confident in the day-to-day business decisions I need to make, how to work with others, and keep the needs of my customers at the forefront of my mind."
Q) What is something important that you have learned on the job that you could offer as advice to your fellow arts admins?
A) "I've worked in a wide range of industries, and even though companies, consumers, brands, and goals vary there are lessons from our courses at Le Moyne that can be applied anywhere. Whether you end up working in arts administration, or something totally different, don't forget that creativity drives everything and you'll always be able to utilize your degree."
Happy Administrative Professionals Day Arts Admins!
On this special day, we thank YOU for 💚
- Meet Kaitlyn Wheeler and Haley Stuart (M.S. '21)
Kaitlyn currently works as the Assistant Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement and Haley currently works as the Marketing Specialist for Enrollment both here at Le Moyne College. Le Moyne College's emphasis is on education of the whole person and on the search for meaning and value as integral parts of the intellectual life. It seeks to prepare its members for leadership and service in their personal and professional lives to promote a more just society.
Upon catching up with Kaitlyn and Haley, here's what they had to say:
Q) Tell me something special about your involvement with the college as both an alumna and now staff member.
A) Kaitlyn: "I am a proud flute and piccolo player in the Le Moyne orchestra. I played as a student and still do now as an alumna."
A) Haley: "There are many things that make Le Moyne so special, but I think this sums it up: We often joke 'I am a double dolphin.' After graduating from Le Moyne with my undergraduate degree, I decided to pursue my M.S. in Arts Administration. Five years later, I found myself back on the Heights but from the other side as a member of our staff."
Q) What is something important that you have learned on the job that you could offer as advice to your fellow arts admins?
A) Kaitlyn: "I have learned that even though I did not go into an arts specific field following the program, I find ways to be creative and artsy every day."
A) Haley: "Just do it, chances are when something feels uncomfortable, that is where you will grow - professionally and personally."
