We visited the OCO's Fulton Family Welcome Center this week to celebrate World Breastfeeding Month! 🤱🎉
We had a blast attending the Breastfeeding Cafe of Oswego County, held there every 4th Tuesday from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. We celebrated with wonderful parents and their adorable babies who joined us.
To support breastfeeding/chestfeeding families, BFFNY provided cooler bags filled with essential items, along with wearable electric breast pumps. We honored participants with certificates and provided valuable resources to guide them on their journeys.
Thank you to everyone who joined us! We hope you enjoyed the gifts, the camaraderie, and the support we were able to provide
A great reminder from Cribs for Kids Cribs for Kids® National Infant Safe Sleep Initiative
Adult mattresses are cozy but aren't safe for infants to sleep on, even for a short time. Soft surfaces increase the risk of accidental suffocation. Always use a firm, flat crib mattress specifically designed for infants when putting your baby to sleep.

Oswego County Breastfeeding Calendar of Events for July!
First group is TODAY at 6 pm EST! Join our newest online support group, Substance Use Recovery Support for Perinatal Moms & Birthing People.
Join PSI-trained peer facilitators for a recovery-focused virtual gathering. This peer support group is for those from pregnancy to two years postpartum who are engaged in recovery or considering recovery from substance use disorders (SUD This is a meeting focused on recovery, meaning a goal of abstaining from use, excluding medications taken as prescribed. For people who are considering recovery or have had a slip, and have used the day of the meeting, listening and observing is welcome, rather than active participation. No diagnosis is needed to attend. The perinatal period brings about unique challenges for those trying to maintain sobriety, and this group is a space to share those experiences and receive support whether you’ve been sober for one day or one hundred days. Substance use disorders may include, but are not limited to, alcohol use disorder, opioid use disorder, and/or ma*****na use disorder. PSI recognizes SUD as a chronic illness of the brain from which we can recover and lead healthy lives, and we honor that there are multiple, unique pathways to recovery for each individual. We hope to support those on their recovery journey as they also navigate pregnancy and postpartum. We do not treat, diagnose, or conduct therapy in our sessions as the focus is peer support. These sessions would not be a replacement for therapy, addiction treatment, or medical care.
