If we didn’t have documented proof here on social media, most folks wouldn’t believe that just 90 days ago we were serving food under tents on the sidewalk. A few weeks before that I made the tough decision to shut down my curbside operation on South Tacoma Way where I worked mostly by myself for almost 2 years, I sat in my car WEEPING because a pipe had burst in the restaurant- just another in a series of unfortunate events preventing me from opening a restaurant that was already seriously delayed. Fast forward 90 days later I’ve now got a team of 10 people working with me, including one that I was able to promote to restaurant manager. Why am I sharing this? Because that’s something to celebrate! I have a really hard time celebrating myself and operating a restaurant is really f**king hard, but I think I’ve been doing a pretty good job of it for the last 90 days and I want to celebrate that!

Happy Thursday! We’re just DAYS away from the opening of our new dine in location and of all the feelings I’ve been feeling lately, overwhelmed would be the best way to describe how I feel mostly. Please keep myself and team of new hires lifted in prayer as we navigate the challenges that come along with opening a restaurant and I pray that I can join you all in your feelings of excitement because right now I just want to stay in bed 😩.

I am so fed up with the @cityoftacoma. Something HAS TO BE DONE @woodards4tacoma. Every other month there is a news story of a new corporate owned franchise restaurant coming to Tacoma, meanwhile the city goes out of its way to make it harder for us local business owners to open our doors. Please please please shoot me a message if you are having or have had issues with the city (specifically with the grease interceptor.) and let’s see what we can do together. Lets make these people do their jobs or force them to find new careers! I’m ready to throw hands! Who’s with me!?

Even though I know it’s unsustainable, it’s a lot easier for me to try to do everything by myself than it is to entrust other people to do it. It’s probably just a feeling that I’ll have to pull the trigger on and get used to the discomfort of being hands off, but I’m honestly stressing tf out about not being in the kitchen anymore 😩
