From our community partners”Comunidad fosters youth leadership by integrating art culture and community organizing. Youth created a collage of the world as it is and as it should be to better understand how they can help change things in their communities for the better.” Shout out to Ingrid and Emely for leading this partnership with the Adams-Tres family whose impactful leadership have helped change policy across the region. Our SAMi students and staff are simply incredible! Today at lunch Ms. Driscoll led students in a Restorative Practice called a problem solving circle. Our Chief Custodian Mr. Hoenow defined the problem - food messes, especially on Wednesdays. Students are walking away from their messes, one student said to Mr. Hoenow it was his job to clean up (?!) and female gender bathrooms have deliberate vandalism - all this feels disrespectful to custodial staff. Our students came up with great ideas to increase SAMi student accountability to themselves and each other. Time to get to work!
Thanks to our SAMi leaders for presenting about SAMi. Olivia led this project, developing pamphlets to welcome 8th graders to apply, Ephraim shared about his pathway in Physical Sciences and Eliyana shared her love of Life Sciences pathway. If you are interested in applying to one of our Partner Schools, the application closes next week!
