Did you know that Johnson Candy Company has been a part of the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma for nearly century? That seems like a long time! Next year will be the 100th anniversary of our little business, and we are still owned and operated by the same Johnson family that began things in 1925. What should we do next year to celebrate?🤔

It sure feels like autumn which means it is CHOCOLATE SEASON! What better way to celebrate than a delicious hand-packed box of local Johnson’s chocolates. We are coming up on our hundredth year(!) of serving Tacoma as a small, family-owned and operated candy store. In addition to our old-fashioned recipes we also have vegan, sugar-free, and gluten-free options. And we ship USPS nationwide.

Hilltop Street Fair!

Come out this Saturday for one of Tacoma’s best community events! We will be open all day and will have lots of our huge, hand-dipped cream bars available outside

is hosting a walking tour of the Hilltop neighborhood this afternoon. It’s free and open to anyone. Come by and hear our candy maker talk about the history of the store in the neighborhood.

Who will be first to try out the new bench installed yesterday in front of our shop? A perfect place to sit while eating a hand-dipped ice cream bar. 🌞

We are aware that all the construction has made parking more challenging around the candy store recently, so we asked the city to put in a loading zone for customers and they obliged! Thank you Tacoma!

We are very proud to be participating in Small Business Bingo this month, organized by ! The idea is pretty simple. For $3 you buy a bingo card that you can get stamped at participating businesses (no purchase is necessary for a stamp). Full rows or a full card can be redeemed for prizes at the participating shops. We are giving out chocolate and ice cream bars. 😉

The event ends on July 31st so don’t wait to start.

We will be closed tomorrow in observance of Juneteenth. We will reopen Thursday for regular business hours.

With heavy hearts we have to announce that our longest tenured employee is leaving us. Many of you are probably familiar with Carole and her cheerful greetings. She has long been the best advocate our little candy store has had and we will miss her dearly. So come in TODAY, because this is her last Saturday. We know she has lots of fans out there who would like to hear her famous tour of the store one more time!

Chocolate Easter Eggs! We still have a bunch. All of the flavors are in stock, but that may not be the case for long. Some folks even buy them to freeze for later!😉 We will be hiding the last of our prizes in some random eggs, maybe you’ll be a lucky winner!
