Give Hope an Address for Tacoma Youth 12/06/2022

Each year an estimated 5,000 youth and young adults experience homelessness in Pierce County.

Where can they go?

The Coffee Oasis has been providing an answer to that question for 25 years through our compassionate youth programs and our distinctive model of artisan coffee businesses. What began as a small, safe place for street youth to gather in Bremerton, Washington has grown into youth programs in 5 different locations creating opportunities for all youth (ages 13-25) to thrive.

You have an incredible opportunity to help The Coffee Oasis purchase the property currently housing The Loft Youth Shelter and the future home of The Coffee Oasis’ first Pierce County café and youth drop-in center.

After successfully expanding across Kitsap County, we opened our first Tacoma shelter three years ago to meet the needs of struggling youth throughout Pierce County. Since opening The Loft Youth Shelter in Tacoma, we have cared for more than 250 youth with warm and safe shelter. The Coffee Oasis street outreach has reached hundreds more youth, including young people involved in gangs, commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking, teen moms, and youth dealing with abuse, mental health issues, and chemical dependency.

The option to purchase the property includes a 12-unit apartment building. This building would provide young adults exiting homelessness affordable housing while they establish a rental history and gain independent living experience.

Will You Help Build a Better Tomorrow for Youth in Tacoma?

So far, $1.1 million has been raised out of the $2.75 million needed to purchase the location and complete the needed renovations for the Tacoma café and youth drop-in center. With your help, we can make this location the permanent home for The Coffee Oasis in Tacoma.

Your gift will provide hurting and homeless youth a safe place to go for the next 25 years and beyond!

Changing the world for homeless youth

Youth on the streets battle depression, isolation, addiction, and trauma. They do not have the loving support of a community or family. They do not have a safe refuge to return to at night. They do not have hope for tomorrow because they are battling to survive just for the day.

Our goal is to be “out there.” Wherever they are. In the midst of whatever they’re going through. To compassionately guide youth out of homelessness and into lives of dignity, integrity, and responsibility. To see not just the lives of youth changed, but for the world around them to change and become a place that cares for hurting youth. Our mission is to change the world for homeless youth.

Since 1997, The Coffee Oasis (a 501(c)3 non-profit organization) has offered hope and opportunity to homeless youth, ages 13-25, in Washington. Over the years, thousands of youth have found community and healing through the Oasis Youth Programs.

The Coffee Oasis Youth Programs:
Street Hope – street and school outreach
Oasis Centers – youth centers and resources
Partnering Hope – case management and mentoring
HOPE INC – job training and internships
Hope Homes – shelter and supportive housing
Crisis Intervention – counseling and crisis care

Our vision is to change the world for homeless youth in one community after another through a strategic continuum of services supported by sustainable coffee businesses.

Our Cafes & Coffee:
The Coffee Oasis cafes and coffee play a vital role in changing the world for homeless youth. Not only do they provide opportunities for youth to participate in job internships, but they also provide financial support—100% of the proceeds from our cafes and coffee support our youth programs! So when you purchase a latte or a bag of coffee, you are making a difference in the lives of youth.
