It's my birthday!

My parents often shared the story of the joy of bringing me home Christmas morning swaddled in a red and white striped stocking. Growing up with a late December birthday has always had its challenges. Our school holiday events were often on the same night as my birthday and it was easy to be overlooked or forgotten in the midst of the busy holiday season.

As an entrepreneur with retail businesses it was always a juggling act to find time to celebrate. While there have been challenges, I have been fortunate to have employees, friends, and family who have gone the extra mile to make the day a bit more special.

Last week I announced my campaign for Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer. I’m so grateful for all of the support and excitement this past week. The kind words and encouragement I have received remind me of the joy and kindness of a birthday during the holiday season.

Joy and kindness may not usually be words you think of when you think of the Assessor - Treasurer office, but they are the words that come to my mind in gratitude for my friends and family. I know we have a lot of hard work ahead of us over the next year and with your support it will be a little easier.

Pierce County Councilmember Marty Campbell announced his campaign for the open position of Pierce County Assessor-Treasurer. Prior to joining the Council, Marty served for 8 years as Tacoma City Councilmember and owned a successful small business.

Throughout his career in both business and public service, Marty Campbell has prioritized quality customer service, effective management, and making government accountable.

“I’m running to bring my management and business experience to run a professional and effective Assessor-Treasurer’s Office. Pierce County voters deserve quality customer service, efficient use of taxpayer dollars, professional and fair tax assessments and a public servant who will listen.”

As a Councilmember and Vice Chair of the County Council, Marty, focused on administering Federal pandemic relief funds and passing balanced budgets that prioritize the public’s interest. Marty is uniquely qualified as the only candidate with county-level experience.

“With the amount of dysfunction and distrust happening at higher levels, it’s critical that we keep local government working well and delivering core services for the people. On the City Council, I focused on the basics - potholes, safe sidewalks, and supporting local businesses. On the County Council, I’ve worked to expand access to housing, improving public safety, and making county government more efficient and accessible.
