TACID - Tacoma Area Coalition of Individuals with Disabilities (TACID) is a community center that serves adults (18+) who are experiencing physical, sensory, cognitive, developmental, and behavioral health disabilities and challenges. "We offer services at our facility AND online on Zoom." They have an art program that helps training, work and effort. My wife, Peggy, volunteered to donate some of her art items to help. Unfortunatetly she is in the hospital currently and unable to fill all of her boxes. Please, reach out for Peggy Doman and donate what you can for the TACID Art Program.

Peggy and I took our son Del to see "Escape to Margaritaville" at Tacoma Musical Playhouse. It was opening night and we had a ball. Managing Artistic Director Jon Douglas Rake welcomed everyone. He introduced us to a stuffed parot and told us about the need for a new audio system for the orchestra and we were off. We had great seats and within minutes we were hooked and involved. The mini-fundraiser for the orchestra featured a cheeseburger, fries, and a Margarita for just $15. I think these are being offered early before the people come in for their tickets, during entermission and possibly after the afternoon production. I'm kinda guessing, but at $15 it's quite a good deal. Opening night wasn't completely sold out, but there was certainly a ton of people there when they rose for a standing ovation . . . which was actually fun in itself (you gotta be there). There was a lot of foot tapping going on and lots of smiles on the faces in the audience. It was a treat! Our actual review will be published later this week.

With shiny, multi-colored scales, Rainbow Fish is the most beautiful fish in all of the ocean, and the only one of his (or her!) kind. When Rainbow Fish refuses to share his vibrant, shimmering scales, the whole ocean seems to turn against the vain creature. Unhappy that no one adores him anymore, the Rainbow Fish seeks out the wise Octopus, who helps him learn that it’s far better to be admired for being kind than for being beautiful.

With a bubbly, energetic score and a script that invites wonderful creativity and flexibility, the universal message at the heart of this delightful musical becomes much more than just a simple children’s story.

St. Vinnies of Tacoma will be opening a community resource center (CRC) soon to provide walk-in resources to those needing immediate assistance. The CRC will house mission outreach. The City of Seattle has something similar. The mission outreach will consists of St. Vinnie’s homeless prevention & basic needs program and a newly added program called, Centro Rendu. This program supports the latino community.

"Over the past two years, the need for extra support and resources has become even more apparent," said Tracy Peacock, executive director. "We are excited to open the St. Vincent de Paul Community Resource Center to act as the hub of our Mission Outreach Program. This enables us to officially expand from just a Help Line to a viable space to help our neighbors in need."
