This morning at 12:22am, TFD crews responded to the 800 block of South Hawthorne Street for an RV on fire next to a house. The RV was parked between two residential garages, and the RV was engulfed in flames when Engine 17 arrived first on scene. Crews quickly got the fire under control, but remained on scene to check for hot spots.
Fortunately, no one was injured, and no occupants were displaced. The RV, however, is a total loss, and the adjacent garages suffered exterior damage. The fire was ruled unintentional.
Itโs Friday the 13th! Donโt worry, though. Lucky Station 13 is standing by for any unluckiness that might occur in the Proctor District.

We appreciate all of the community members who were able to join us this morning for our 9/11 Remembrance event. Even the rain paused with us as we held this solemn moment together.
National Preparedness Month: Build a Kit!
This week, we focus on building our disaster supplies kit. After an emergency, you may need to survive on your own for several days. Being prepared means having your own food, water, and other supplies to last for several days. A disaster supplies kit is a collection of essential items your household may need in the event of an emergency.

Station Spotlight
Over the next several months, weโll introduce you to all the different stations serving our community. Let's start with....
Station 1

Our August call volume numbers are in!
(Spoiler alert: We responded to a total of 4,520 calls.)

Yesterday morning, TFD crews responded to reports of a fire in the 300 blk of E 26th St. Crews arrived on scene to discover flames coming from the rear of the building. Since this was ruled a suspicious fire, Tacoma Police Department is looking for a suspect seen in the area prior to the fire.
Fortunately, no one was injured, and there was no one living in the upstairs apartment at the time. This is still an active investigation.
Last night, at 12:28am, TFD responded to calls for a residential fire in the 6000 block of Bell St. When Engine 10 arrived first on scene, they saw smoke coming from the home. As more crews arrived on scene, they attacked the fire offensively, and were able to knock down the fire quickly.

No one was injured, and the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

6300 blk of N 26th St. - At 12:41am, TFD responded to multiple reports of an apartment fire. When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke and fire coming out of the 1st floor unit of a 2-story apt building.
Crews extinguished the flames and kept the fire contained to the 1st floor unit. We are sad to report that one occupant and two dogs are deceased. The preliminary cause of the fire is improperly disposed smoking materials.
Congratulations to all TFD personnel who were recognized at today's Promotion Ceremony!
