Eid Al-Adha Mubarak! This holiday is to commemorate Ibrahim's readiness to scarifice his son Ismail who was replaced at the moment of sacrafice with a ram by Allah (Christian friends, is this story sounding familiar)? Celebrations can last anywhere from 2-4 days. Did you know that this is also a time to give to those in need? The day is spent celebrating with family friends and loved ones.
Have more questions about this holiday? Find more info here: https://rb.gy/xga9a
Happy Freedom Day friends. Remember campus is closed and Kasey will be doing zero labor today! We will return to campus tomorrow.
Juneteenth is coming up quickly! This day recognizes the day that enslaved people in Texas were told they were freed by executive decree. If you're looking to celebrate, the Juneteenth Festival in Tulsa in Greenwood is a great place to start. The festival runs from June 15-17 and for folks in Muskogee and Tahlequah, Muskogee is having two events Sunday, June 18th.
Remember to support local Black organization and those doing liberation work. Campus is closed Monday in recognition of this holiday!
Check out our new logo for our new space!
The Center for Tribal Studies welcomes you to visit our offices in the Basement of the University Center on the Tahlequah Campus.
Hours:
