First, the Oklahoma Council for Indian Education named Graduating Senior Chelbie Turtle the 2023 Higher Education Student of the Year.
Second, one of our alumni, Steven Elmore, was named the 2023 Volunteer of the Year by the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture. Dr. Chris Weaver is a member of TFA, which is a great organization, and he has been part of some of Steven's tours.

The NSU Model UN team traveled to Arksansas State University in Jonesboro, Ar. for a simulation with Arkansas Collegiate Model UN. NSU MUN has participated with ACMUN for the past 5 years and will host on November 2, 2024.
Members are: Des Hutson, Chair of ECOSOC; Walker Eaton, Rachel Hughes, Head Delegate; Garret Wall (center in chairs); Trinity Holt, and Lauren Shores. Garret bucked up his courage and gave a speech! We're very proud of our team!

Double Political Science and Spanish Major Ty Brant was awarded a prestigious internship with the State Department over the next two summers. He is looking forward to becoming a Foreign Service Officer.
“The United States Foreign Service Internship Program (USFSIP) is two consecutive summers of paid 10-week internship designed to expose undergraduate students to U.S. diplomacy and the work of the Department of State. In the first summer, participants receive three weeks of academic and professional training in Washington, D.C. followed by seven weeks working in a policy office at the U.S. Department of State. In the second summer, participants are given ten-week assignment to a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad.”

WIIT scholarships encourage juniors and seniors studying any aspect of International Trade, including commercial relations, trade policy, economic development, women’s economic empowerment, and more. Applicants must identify as female and be currently enrolled at an accredited US university or college full-time or part-time. They can be of any citizenship. Awards of $1,500 and professional development opportunities will be awarded on the quality of the submitted essay and the applicant's demonstrated interest in international trade. Rachel Carson Council Fellowship Program

US Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 Next-Gen Internship Program
The Next-Gen program allows students to intern in various US Chamber departments while offering events and collaborations that contribute to developing the next generation of diverse international business leaders. Next-Gen focuses on exposing students from HBCUs and other MSIs to the world of business, policy, government affairs, and advocacy. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a college or university. Next-Gen Scholars will be matched with one of the Chamber's 45 departments based on their skill sets. The William & Mary Global Innovation Challenge invites teams of 3-5 undergraduates from universities around the world to participate in their annual sustainable development case competition (to be held virtually April 7 -8, 2023). Students of all majors and disciplines are welcome. Over the course of 24 hours, teams work with mentors in one of four streams: Governance, Technology, Social Entrepreneurship, and Business Consulting. Each team will consider sustainability, feasibility, and creativity in their solutions. Panels of expert judges will evaluate the proposals and select a total of eight winners, who will receive $500 each. D3 Systems seeks interns to support data collection and analysis, as well as assist with the development of internal mobile data collection platforms. NTI Paid Summer 2023 Internships in DC
The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), a non-profit whose mission is to transform global security by driving systemic solutions to nuclear and biological threats imperiling humanity, is now taking internship applications for Summer 2023. Undergraduates with at least two years of study and the legal right to work in the US are invited to apply. Their hourly rate is $17/hour. Interns are also provided with paid holidays, up to 40 hours of paid sick leave (if needed), and up to $300 of commuter benefits. Freedom House seeks graduating seniors for its nine-month Freedom in the World Junior Fellowship. Each Junior Fellow will be hired as a fixed-term employee, eligible for a benefits package. They will be responsible for managing the research for one of the six geographic regions. Applicants must be 2023 graduating seniors in an applicable field OR individuals who have completed their undergraduate degree between Fall 2022 and June 2023. Students who have begun or completed graduate studies are not eligible. No citizenship requirements, but must have authorization to work in the US independent from Freedom House sponsorship. The Washington International Trade Association (WITA) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to providing a neutral forum for the robust discussion of international trade issues. WITA seeks undergraduate interns in DC for Spring, Summer, and Fall. Interns receive a monthly stipend and access to the global trade community, the Washington political environment, and the substance of international trade.
