Tonight our featured performer is Don Wright. He loves the blues and you can hear how it influences his playing and song writing. Don also runs an open mic at The Rose Lounge in Broken Arrow on Sunday afternoons.

Open mic sign-ups begin at 6:30, and I have a feeling it might be a busy night so get there early to snag a spot. You can also enjoy some of the great happy hour specials on food and drinks while you wait for the show to start.

It is my favorite day of the week again, and hopefully yours too! Local Legends resumes with featured artist Hugh Foley, a radio host and songwriter. Hugh runs 1600 The Kush Radio and helps local artists get on the air-waves. I would describe his music as Americana and would say his songs tell stories about average life which anyone can relate to.

The purpose of this open mic is to give budding musicians a place to perform their original tunes. If you are an artist looking to perform please reach out to me to book a featured spot. You get to play for 45 minutes, the crowd usually tips well, and above all else experience. It is also notable to mention that several featured performers have been booked for a paid gig at The Branch prior to the open mic.

I've been asked several times if there is compensation for this gig. A performer myself, I understand the struggle. Unfortunately at this time, we do not offer pay for the featured spot. This is more a labor of love than anything else. The goal is to create a space for artists to collaborate and share their ideas.

He's a talented guitarist and budding songwriter. In addition to his time spent learning guitar he also works hard as videographer in the area capturing live performances for dozens of artists.

Chase is a very talented young man with big dreams. At a young age he has already secured a roll in the music industry as a sound tech for the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.

It's hard to believe we have been doing this open mic for 17 weeks straight. What a great ride it's been so far! Thank you Tahlequah for coming out each Wednesday and giving local artists a crowd to perform to.

We have an exciting group of musicians coming through in May, and due to the calendar year we get an extra week of open mic this coming month. If you have time please invite your friends and family to like and follow the page for updates on upcoming featured guests.

We had such a great turn out for Jim’s Jam and Zach Cole last night. Thank you Tahelquah for showing up. I’ve never seen so many musicians on that tiny stage. Felt like a Hot Club in New Orleans. This community is truly special.

Tomorrow night at The Branch we will be honoring our late friend Dr. Jim Hicks with a few songs. Jim was loved by many in the music community and he will be missed dearly. I implore everyone who knew him to come out and share some songs and stories.
