The Cherokee County Commissioners enacted a county wide burn ban this morning. THERE IS NO OPEN BURNING ALLOWED IN CHEROKEE COUNTY, charcoal grills are the only exception. People found to be burning, whether the fire is attended or not, can be cited and prosecuted.

Please do not set brush piles, trash piles or anything else on fire until the commissioners and our fire departments feel it is safe to lift the ban.

Air Management October 19th 8-5, filling up fast!

The IAFF is issuing a safety alert to inform members of concerns about a recalled Motorola Remote Speaker Microphone (RSM).

The IAFF was recently contacted by a Local experiencing issues with APX NEXT radios utilizing the XVE500 remote speaker microphone.

During fireground operations, the microphone would stick in the transmit mode causing a loss of communications.

The problem was more apparent when the RSM was wet during the overhaul phase. The push-to-talk (PTT) switch, when depressed, would also intermittently unkey and key the radio causing delays in transmitting critical messages. Motorola has determined that the XVE500 RSMs should be immediately removed from service.

Refer to Motorola’s Technical Notification (MTN-0098-24) for product replacement.

The IAFF recommends that all APX NEXT radios with an XVE500 RSM be inspected and evaluated by radio technicians.

🚑This online course will prepare students to become certified as an Emergency Services Instructor 1 and meets the required curriculum requirements to obtain an OSDH EMS Instructor License.

📍The IFSAC Instructor exam will take place September 21st at Guthrie Fire & EMS at 8am.

📚Students must purchase the textbook for the course and must have the textbook in hand by the first day of class.
