"JAC was able to build connections for me. Who would have ever thought that my work could help represent social movements, land on the cover of menus featured in the James Beard House or be included in the Marking Time exhibit in the Museum of Modern Art PS1? Yet all these events came to be because of the Justice Arts Coalition." - Conor Broderick, JAC Network Artist

“My eggs are about prison life meshed with prison memories. The eggs are my journey. I call them the Wanderer. The wanderer is me. I'm looking for a home. I have a house, but I don't have a home. I'm housed, but I'm still homeless.” —Gil Batle
Opening this Saturday, November 11, our new exhibition "Visions of Transcendence: Creating Space in East and West" highlights the resilient creativity of people deprived of their freedoms in both the socialist east and capitalist west. Irrespective of ideological regimes, individual artists and collectives in this exhibition created their own transcendent spaces.

JAC is joining to advocate for a stop to prisons’ attacks on the printed word. These books are denied because of “sexually explicit” images. Sexually explicit is the #1 reason for prisons to censor content. But, it’s applied to art books, popular magazines and drawing guides. This , urge your legislators and DOC officials to stop prison censorship!
JAC's team is working hard to make sure every incarcerated artist in our network receives a hard copy of "Art + Agency: Educating Allies and Empowering Artists in Carceral Spaces". Be sure to register for our virtual launch event happening on Thursday, 11/02!
