Women In Sports Association at Florida State University had the pleasure to hear Head Coach of Women’s Softball at FSU, Coach Alameda, speak about her experiences and share some words of wisdom to the association. We were happy to have you, Coach Alameda!
Coach Alameda is in her 14th season as the head coach of the Florida State softball program. Some of her incredible accomplishments include:
2018 NCAA National Champion
2018 Musial Award
2013-2017 ACC Coach of the Year
While these are only the most recent accomplishments of Coach Alameda, it is to be noted she has many accolades to account for.

I am from Malvern, PA and a sports management major. My future career goals are to work at some capacity with a professional or collegiate athletic team in the northeast. My academic performance as an undergrad which led to being asked to be a graduate assistant here next year has been my most proud achievement! Fun fact about me is I was the head golf coach for a local middle school here in Tallahassee for 2 years!

Hello! My name is Mackenzie Tolrud. I am from St. Petersburg, Florida and I am double majoring in Media/Communication Studies and Sport Management. My future career goal is to work in sponsorships and partnerships with a sports team in Tampa or with the NFL! My most proud achievement is being the President of the Club Softball team. I am so honored to lead a team of 16 hard working young women and we are headed to Regionals in a couple weeks, wish us luck! Fun fact: I am attending grad school next year at USF in their Vinik Sport and Entertainment Management program!
Come see us this Wednesday for Market Wednesday!! We will be making dog toys for the Leon County Animal Shelter! We will be there from 10-12 but the exact location is still TBD but we will post exact location on our Instagram on Wednesday morning!!! Join us and have some fun this Wednesday before finals and everything picks up!!! Finish strong!!
🎉Congratulations to FSU Club Gymnastics🤸 on their national championship at NAIGC this weekend in Milwaukee, WI! They finished 1st in the WAG Level 8 team competition!!! One individual we want to mention is our executive board member Kelsey Alvaro! She is stunning on and off the floor and we just wanted to show our appreciation!! .alvaro

My name is Samantha Stout and I'm from Coral Springs, FL. My major is Sports Management. I’m not totally sure about what I want to do in the future, but I would love to work with a professional or collegiate sports team. My most proud accomplishment is getting the chance to work with the 2021 Orange Bowl. A fun fact about me is I can say the alphabet backwards!

We would like to highlight Hayley Seibert for this Women In Sports Association at Florida State University (WISA at FSU) feature!
Hayley Seibert is from Tampa and a member of WISA. She is pursuing a degree in Communications/Editing Writing and Media and aspires to learn what it takes to be an informative, empathetic, and accomplished journalist. She completed this WISA at FSU feature for an Advanced Feature Reporting class. Did I mention, Hayley is only a freshman!
Zane Zwiernik is the Director/Editor of this WISA at FSU feature. He is majoring in Digital Media Production. Excellent work, Zane! This is just the beginning for both of these talented students!
We could not be more excited for our next guest speaker! Dr. Megan Buning, CMPC, is a Teaching Specialist in the Interdisciplinary Center for Athletic Coaching (FSU COACH). She earned her doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Mississippi, her Master of Science in sport psychology from Florida State, and her Bachelor of Science in exercise science from the University of South Carolina.
Even more impressive is that Megan was an All-American softball pitcher at the University of South Carolina and went on to play both professionally in the National Pro Fastpitch league and internationally with the British National Team.

My name is Diana Schorr and I am from Boca Raton, FL. I am majoring in Sport Management with a minor in Communications. I am currently working towards receiving a Bachelor’s and a Master’s through the Combined Pathways Program here at FSU. I hope to have a career in the sport or health & wellness industry that will inspire young women to do just the same. My most proud achievement was getting accepted into the Sport Management program because not many people get accepted, especially women. A fun fact about me is that I have never traveled outside North America.
In case you missed it, we had an amazing meeting Wednesday with guest speaker Tenisha Patterson Brown! We want to extend a huge thank you for coming and speaking to us and giving us the life long knowledge to empower us through our careers. We could not be happier and appreciate the time she took to speak to us and for making the journey to Tallahassee! Thank you again and we hope to see you again!
WISA is hosting a canned food drive in honor of National Nutrition Month! We will have a box to collect the food in Tully Gym. The food drive will begin on March 28th and end on April 6th during our meeting. 3 cans will equal one service hour for WISA; please send a picture of the cans being donated so that we can approve your hours. All of the canned goods will be donated to the FSU Food Pantry. Some recommended items are:
• Canned tuna
• Other canned meats
• Pasta
• Pasta sauce
• Granola Bars
• Dry cereal
• Shelf-stable milk (boxed or canned)
• Almond milk
• Peanut butter
• Mac & Cheese
• Rice
• Dried Beans
• Canned diced tomatoes
• Instant mashed potatoes
• Spices (salt, pepper, onion, garlic, basil, oregano, etc.)
📢This Member Wednesday is special and we would love to introduce you to our friend Sadie. She has done so much for WISA and Sadie is an amazing person!
Sadie is from North Carolina. She is pursuing a Master’s degree in Sport Management here at Florida State. Her future career goals are to work in intercollegiate athletics, student-athlete support services. Being selected as an intern for the upcoming 2022-2023 FSU Student-Athlete Academic Services internship is one her greatest accomplishments! Fun fact about Sadie is she has two older sisters.
Who is ready for some Vitamin D and good times? We invite you to join us March 31st at the Rez for some fun yoga and hangout time. I’m from West Palm Beach, FL. I am a sports management major. I would love to hopefully work in the front office of an NBA team one day specifically the Miami Heat! My most proud accomplishment would be becoming a manager for the Womens basketball team! I have played basketball my whole life so now being able to work with the team is super cool and a great experience! Getting to see how the team runs outside of games is so interesting and definitely will help me in my future career! I am a huge foodie and my best friend and I share a food account on Instagram! Tenisha Patterson Brown is a sports attorney and business consultant, entrepreneur, author, avid philanthropist, wife and mother.
Her area of specialization includes business development, contract negotiations and drafting.
She founded Definitive Sports Representation in 2009. Her mission is to turn athletes into brands but more importantly businessmen. She would later expand her business in 2015 to include the spouses of athletes to encourage her clients to build empires together.
She has been featured as a Top 30 Under 30 Alumni from Florida State University, on Forbes.com, and Black Enterprise Magazine to name only a few of her many accomplishments.

This is a volunteer opportunity and a chance to watch our seniors in their final home match. This is going to be an exciting meet with some of the best collegiate track & field teams competing against our Noles! This will be their one and only home meet this year and the last chance to celebrate our graduating seniors as they compete at Mike Long Track for the last time. Food and beverages will be provided!

Since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.” These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.
Women in Sports is a growing topic and we hope to help grow the industry as well as celebrate the women who help young girls and encourage as well as support those pursuing a career in sport.
Happy National Nutrition Month to everyone! We encourage to you to get outside this month, read a book, remember your mental health is important as well as your physical and emotional health.
Brinya is a dietetics major and she works for FSU teams and ensures that athletes are fueled and ready to compete to their full potential! Brinya is also the secretary for WISA and we love her!!
