💚In honor of National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, we wanted to remind you that we are here & recovery is possible.
Our program was initially founded in 1990 as an outpatient clinic. Through years of partnering with individuals on their recovery journey, we noticed a need for more comprehensive and individualized services.
To meet the high demand of care for adults and adolescents struggling to overcome their eating disorders, we have expanded to provide intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization programs and now residential care - which has been operating as we know it now since 2008.

Let's all Stand Up for Human Rights 📢
'Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All'
In the decades since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, human rights have become more recognized and more guaranteed across the globe. It has since served as the foundation for an expanding system of human rights protection that today focuses also on vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples and migrants.
This day seeks to shift the needle of understanding and action towards greater knowledge of the universality of the UDHR and the activism associated with it. 🙌

A large part of what makes up Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) are Obsessions and Compulsions. ❓ So, what is the difference between Obsessions and Compulsions? 💬 According to the OCD Foundation, "Obsessions are unwanted thoughts, images, or urges that may be extreme or disturbing. The obsessions are accompanied by uncomfortable feelings such as fear, disgust, doubt, or a feeling that things have to be 'just right.' These obsessions occur over and over again and feel outside of the person’s control." and "Compulsions are excessive, repetitive behaviors or “mental acts” (e.g., thought suppression, counting, or praying) that a person uses to try to neutralize or make their obsessions or distress go away. People with OCD usually recognize that using compulsions is only a temporary solution, but without any other way to cope, they rely on compulsions as a brief escape."
Back to School & Eating Disorders 💬
This can be a fun but stressful time, so here are some top tips:
🌲 #1 Plan ahead for meals and snacks - Think about where & when your loved one will eat. Often times, the school nurse can provide a safe, supportive environment for effective eating.
🌲 #2 Speak to your guidance office and teachers about upcoming lessons - If your loved one is in a health class discussing nutrition, your treatment team can help advocate for alternative assignments that will be less cueing of ED urges & behaviors.
🌲 #3 Cope ahead for peer pressure - Do your loved one's peers eat effectively or do they skip lunch? Is there a great deal of pressure to diet or be thin? Collaborate with your treatment team in advance to minimize the impact of peer diet culture.
🌲 #4 Make allies of coaches & trainers - While some coaches & trainers are stuck in a diet culture mindset, those that aren't can be a tremendous support to your loved one in their journey to recovery.
Your recovery is possible
