Today is the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of German-occupied France during World War II. In 1966, the 144th Florida Historical Marker was placed outside of the Key West Public Library Branch - Monroe County celebrating that first library in Monroe County. The Key West Library Association was organized132 years ago last week. They must have known it was Library Week.

March 16th is Save The Florida Panther Day! In 1990, the Florida Legislature designated the third Saturday in March as “Save The Florida Panther Day” to raise awareness for the Florida panther’s dwindling numbers. Their population was once estimated at only a few dozen, but through dedicated conservation efforts, there are estimated to be between 120 and 230 adult panthers in existence today.
