Time for an update on my compositions lately…

This semester has been so busy, so I am a little late to announce that my clarinet duet, Reflective, was one of the winning pieces for the Polymorphia call for scores! I have played flute in the Polymorphia for concerts in previous semesters, and it was so much fun to be in the audience as a composer! The student composers at FSU are really gifted, and it was such a fun concert!!! This was my first time being selected in a call for scores, and I am very excited to keep composing and hopefully continue sharing my music with you all. I don’t send out my scores for competitions often, so I am very grateful that Dr. Ugay encouraged me to try submitting a score!

A little earlier this week, another piece of mine was premiered by my friend Katelyn McClain at UW Madison. This piece is for piccolo and piano called Piccolo in Yellow!

Earlier this semester, my flute ensemble piece, in the flowers, was premiered by me and the FSU grad flute ensemble! If you’ve listened to my most recent album, it was based on the song with the same title.

This is the most world premieres I have had in such a short amount of time! I am really grateful for all the support I have received from my friends and professors. I really love being a part of new music at FSU!! I will absolutely post a little more about each of these pieces soon.😄

My friend Emily wrote a review about one of my songs from my latest album! She wrote this as a single review before the whole album came out. It was published online in Strike Magazine!! 💙🦋

A special thank you to Dr. Mary Matthews Norton for reading all my drafts! Thank you to Nicole Chamberlain for letting me interview you (twice 😂)! Thanks to Lujie Wang for playing piano with me! I am really grateful for Dr. Karen McLaughlin Large and all her support. Thanks to the FSU flute studio just for being the best, you guys are awesome. ❤️

My album Pure Honey is HERE!!! ✨

There’s a few special people who joined me on this project! Thank you for mixing and mastering this album! You really worked some magic.

Thank you so much for hopping on “Hive Mind,” it’s really SUCH a bop! My first collab ever released was with scott (breakfast//kingdom) and I am so excited to have a second song out in the world now! You rock!!

Thank you to for playing and singing with me!!! This track “It’s Gonna Sting” is really more like you all featuring me. I just wrote the song and you all made it happen ❤️

I also want to thank for singing and playing violin on “Ghosts of the Garden.” This song is a totally different style for us, compared to our previous work together on Bloom ( ) but it turned out SO MAGICAL.

Hope you give my new music a listen sometime! Link is in the comments ❤️✨🥹

2023 is a year I won’t forget. I grew so much this year. I got engaged to my best friend. I released my first EP and an album with my friend Jessica. I recorded my first full solo album too and it will be out in less than a week. I am halfway through my doctorate in music at FSU. I performed at the National Flute Convention. I got to watch my brother get married. My family met Octavio’s family. I made so many fun memories and got to travel and perform a lot!

This year I stepped outside my comfort zone, and it was really worth it. I think your dreams should scare you a little, and sometimes be uncomfortable. That’s what makes you grow the most! I am SO excited for the future! Happy New Year!!! What things are you proud of or grateful for from this past year? Let me know in the comments! ❤️

It’s hard to believe, but there are only a couple weeks left in 2024! I decided that this New Year, I am going to participate in “Jamuary.” I have been listening for awhile to the Music Production Podcast, and that’s where I first heard of Jamuary! It is a challenge for musicians, producers, songwriters, etc to create something new every day of January and share it! The idea is to get creative, be totally free, and build a habit of making music every day and the hard part: sharing it. I have seen a few prompts floating around the internet, so I decided to make my own to give myself a little bit more structure (because I know myself and I need a bit of parameters). I have a lot of friends in music, and I wanted to invite you to use this prompt or make your own and join in on the fun! Or just stick around and enjoy my fun little songs!
