I'd love your thoughts on this. *Warning* Explicit language/content. This is a video I have shown in a workshop/lecture on communication skills. Sometimes I wonder if this occurs on camera, what might occur off camera.
Heading home from the LPRT stop in Boston. Awesome tournament as always and one of my favorite events of the year. Stewart Solomon does the little things as a tournament director that make a difference. Thanks to Jen Saunders for joining me on the mic for today's final. Always a privilege to be front and center to watch these ladies compete.

Thankful to have been invited to speak again on the Globetrottin' ADs Podcast about some of the content of my new book, "Reflections on the Coaching Life," as well as share about our program and coaching hot topics. We got a little controversial about coach pay and the often under-appreciated demands placed on coaches.
Good news for coaches!
The job market for American athletes and coaches is growing Sports-related occupations will grow three times as much as other industries on average, the US government said ahead of the Super Bowl
I just submitted my first major paper for my Introduction to Educational Psychology class I'm taking. I've been learning a lot. Regardless the position you hold, keep learning!
A big thank you to Hernando County Athletics and County Athletic Director Dustin Kupcik for inviting me to speak at their district professional development day. A larger than expected interest forced us to adapt and move to the gymnasium for one of my talks but that's a good problem to have!
I've written a few books. This one is maybe my favorite because it's really not written by me but takes the best of what I've learned from others over a number of years of reading and interviews. Only $14.99 on amazon. Volume 2 coming in 2024.

This is why coaches should be provided with professional development opportunities, whether they think they need it or not. This feedback was sent to me about the PD I offered for a school district in Florida last week.
"I would also like to thank you for the coaches professional development. I have coached for years and really thought I had it down. Our speaker really opened my eyes to things I had never thought of regarding the establishment of cultural norms on a sports team. Much of what he said resonated with me and I have already begun speaking to my assistant coaches about changes we need to implement.
I sometimes feel like PD days are a waste of time, however, I really walked away from this one with a lot of valuable and useable information to help my students and athletes grow!"
Very excited to be part of this inservice day next month. Great to see school districts taking training for coaches and athletic directors seriously. Not enough do.
I had excellent time speaking on stress and burnout as keynote to 350+ teachers/coaches at the Sumter County professional development day. I later did additional breakout sessions on what makes a great lesson for teachers and then best practices for developing the culture you want in your team for coaches and athletic directors.
If you think coaching is easy, you have to read this thread...
Landed in Phoenix for the National Association for Kinesiology in Higher Education - NAKHE annual conference where academics in kinesiology and sport science come to share as leaders. I've been honored to serve as president of the organization for the past two years but looking forward to passing the gavel forward after this week.
Starting a new book.

Merry Christmas to all.
Excited to be the keynote speaker for Sumter County School District next month. I'll be speaking on three different topics during the day: stress and burnout, building team culture, and what makes a great lesson.
A funny cartoon but there's a lesson here that I see far too often. An athlete or team wins a big one against their rival or better ranked team and then falters in the next one. It's hard to maintain that focus and momentum.
