Soul Food Ministries International

Providing physical and spiritual nourishment to pastors' families and school children in Liberia.

Soul Food provides 23 pastors' families in Liberia rice on a monthly basis. Soul Food Ministries presently provides a meal to the students at Great Commission School in Paynesville, Liberia twice a week. We are working to provide daily meals to the children of Great Commission School. Soul Food Ministries is also providing meals and food in a local community during the summer of 2013.

We are sad to share with you that one of our dear Liberia pastors, Rev. Joseph Flomo, went home to be with Jesus on March 4, 2024.

Rev. Jospeh was one of the first two pastors to be ordained in 2010. He was the pastor of Diamond Creek FMWM Church early in his ministry. He later pastored the Living Water Church. He also was the District Leader of the Monrovia Area.

Our sympathies are with Doris, his wife, and their children and grandchildren as well. Joseph touched many lives and will be remembered for his compassionate, godly leadership that touched many, many lives for the Lord.

The well donated to Bethel Church in Grand Bassa, Liberia, by our Soul Food Ministry family, being dedicated to the Lord. Recently three communities in this large area discovered the stream they used for drinking water had been contaminated. Sickness and disease spread quickly among the people.
But today the first of the wells is completed. Rev Isaac Gayne dedicated the well to the Lord.
Bless those who gave so this community no longer has to worry about having safe drinking water.
The second well will be finished soon. Stay tuned

We recently became aware of a great need in Grand Bassa County, Liberia. The people from villages where three of our churches are located are getting ill from drinking the water from the creek. This creek has been used for years, but now is causing old and young alike to be very ill. One child has already died.

Soul Food Ministries quickly decided that a well was needed. Thanks to the generosity and kindness of our sponsors, funds were made available to start digging the wells immediately in the village where Bethel church is located (and hour walk into the jungle/bush).

Superintendent G. Isaac Gayne just sent these photos of the villagers along with the videos.

Please join us in celebrating this gift as well as praying for the Lord to supply funds to help the other two villages also.

Recently we posted about a community in the jungle in northern Liberia who were drinking water that smelled so bad they had to hold their nose to drink it. We're thrilled to show you the progress being made towards providing fresh water to this community. The photos below show that the culverts (all hand made on site) are in! The next steps in completing the well are also being worked on. Soon this village will have fresh drinking water! We're so thankful to the Lord and for all who generously gave to make this need a reality.

The work in Liberia continues with great joy. Presently an extra blessing is being worked on. The well in north central Liberia, deep into the jungle has been dug and the culverts are being casted. This village has had no safe, clean drinking water for decades. They draw water from a location in a cave. It looks like the photos below. The water smells so bad that people hold their nose to drink it. What a gift it is to bring them fresh water and also tell the story of the Living Water that provided it for them.

As promised earlier, here is the finished well! An entire village and more is now enjoying the gift of pure water to drink. Thank you to all those who made this gift possible!

These precious moments were made possible by our compassionate sponsors and a fellow missionary who transported the Africa Study Bibles to Liberia.
The Bibles arrived safely from their journey from Ohio to Washington to Liberia! Shown below is Rev. Rufus gifting Rev. Nathaniel his Bible. The second photo is Trevor (our fellow missionary) gifting Rev. Isaac his Bible. Isaac and his wife, Alice, are currently in Togo enrolled in the Wesleyan Missionary Institute. They will be returning home to Liberia in June and serving as missionaries, planting churches throughout the country.
The Africa Study Bibles are filled with commentaries and stories by fellow African Bible scholars. These Bibles will be read, studied and used to teach present and future disciples.
Bless you all who made this possible!

Towards the end of 2020, many gave to provide fresh drinking water to those in need in Liberia. As dry season in now at its peak in Liberia, the process of digging the wells has begun.
The photos below show the first phase of putting in a well. The man in the deep hole digs until water is found. The dirt is pulled out one bucket full at a time. Next the culverts are made (by hand also). Once these are dried they will be lowered individually into the hole.
More photos will be sent as the process continues with the pump being installed along with the pump jacket.
This well is located in Bomi county on the site of the Fountain of Life church. There is a school next to the church who will benefit from the well also. During the day this well will be open for the community to use. The gift of water is already being celebrated by all. Thank you for continuing to share your prayers, gifts and love so others can live.

Thank you to all who prayed and gave to bless Cornerstone FMWM Church in Bomi County, Liberia, with a new roof! Earlier this year their church sustained heavy damage from a strong storm. The members worked hard at repairing the damage but needed assistance in purchasing the zinc (tin) to complete the roof. With contributions from a church in northern Minnesota along with those who gave through Soul Food Ministries, their prayers were answered.

A huge thank you to everyone from the Bomi church for making this possible. Bless you!

Exciting news from our Cornerstone Church in Bomi county, Liberia! Several months ago a terrible storm with high winds swept through many counties in Liberia that border the Atlantic Ocean. The church in Bomi sustained much damage to its roof and compromised the structure of some of its walls. Rainy season caused additional problems too.

But as dry season arrived so did renewed hope. The believers have been working diligently repairing what they can with the meager funds they raise. The photos show their hard work and diligence. Now all that remains is the zinc (tin) for the roof.

Until this point, no assistance has been asked for but the people have exhausted their own funds. We're asking first that you pray the Lord will provide the materials for them to complete their roof. Second, if you'd like to help with the cost of purchasing the zinc (25 bundles each containing 20 sheets are needed at a cost of $110 per bundle for a total cost of $2750), please message us for how to do so. Thank you! We are so grateful for each and every one of you who has a heart to help those in need in our world.

This recent post from Rev. Rufus is cause of much joy.

“ It takes a lot of courage, to be baptized in his name, to die to the old self and be forever changed. May the Lord bless the lives of 7 converts (who were baptized today at our church plant in Tappita, Nimba County) for stepping out for Him”

Sunday, August 8, 2021, was an exciting day for the believers of New Hope church in Liberia. Four months ago a strong storm swept through their area and flattened the church structure. Until that time the congregation worked on putting up the wood frame for a new building but did not have the funds for the zinc (tin) to cover the roof.
We are praising our God with them today for the provision from the Lord that came through the compassion and generosity of our Soul Food Ministries sponsors. Because of you, the new church structure was dedicated yesterday and the first service was held. How beautiful it is when we can help those in need to continue to worship and love God and love others.
Thank you for your giving that made this all possible.

The last few days have been spent updating the Soul Food Ministries presentation board with photos from our recent trip to Liberia. My heart is overflowing with praises to God for all He has done these past 9 years and continues to do. The recent photos of the pastors' families connected to the photos from the past, in addition to the photos of the new pastors, tell the story best. His light and love shine from their eyes. The smiles of the children receiving lunch also reflect His goodness. Only God could make such a difference with a bag of rice and clean water! Blessings on all who are giving so that the differences we see continue to grow.

It's been 7 weeks since we've returned from our short visit to Liberia and much has happened since then.
Rev. Rufus spent 3 weeks in Sierra Leone teaching the next generation of ministry leaders in several different locations. Please pray for much kingdom fruit from his missions trip.
Also, the believers in Bomi county have sent us a praise and a prayer request concerning their church, Cornerstone. A few weeks ago, a strong storm blasted through their area leaving the church greatly damaged. The praise is that no one was hurt during this storm. Their prayer is for the church roof to be repaired as soon as possible. As you can tell from the photos, the corrugated tin sheets (called "zinc" in Liberia) were ripped from the roof. The believers quickly constructed a make-shift structure to worship and continue having the children come to school in but look forward to the day when they can return to their original building (shown in the last photo).
Please join us in thanking the Lord for safety for these dear people and asking Him to provide a way for a repair to be done quickly. Thank you.

Thank you Pastor G Isaac Gayne for your beautiful post of appreciation for all our Soul Food sponsors. May this blessing be returned to you.

“I want to use this platform in the name of Jesus Christ to wish the members and sponsors of the Soul Food Ministry USA a Happy Holy Easter. As we observe the events of the Holy week which is the beginning of our faith in Christ Jesus, may you live and walk in peace.
I pray that God grants you abundant grace in the love and fellowship of Jesus Christ.”

What a glorious day yesterday was! We traveled to Buchanan in Grand Bassa county to hold a teaching session with our wonderful pastors and spouses. It was a blessed family reunion. Our hearts are so full of thankfulness to God as we prepare to leave our second home later. A part of us will remain with those we love.

It’s been another wonderful day in Liberia. The children of Great Commission School enjoyed a healthy lunch in the middle of a thunderstorm. The cooks, Kebeh and Gomeh work faithfully to prepare these delicious meals. Principal Joshua is going a great job and the soccer ball was the cause of squeals of delight. Thank you to all who make these smiles possible.

What a wonderful day with our Monrovia, Zwedru and Bomi area pastors and spouses. We had a great family reunion as we learned more about how we can know God better. The photos show our leaders including 5 from our original group from 2007-2010 who are now the senior leaders of the church and raising up the next generation. Our hearts are so grateful.
