Transparency post: weight loss and trying to be a healthier you can be hard. I’ve struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. As a kid I was called “big boned”, “chubby”, “lit bit”, “thick”. All the names you could think of. It has taken me years to be happy in my skin, but to also realize I wasn’t healthy.

I have high blood pressure, migraines, hypoglycemia, high cholesterol. I’m obese for my height (5’1 216).

I have a significant family history of diabetes.

If I want to be around for my grandkids, I need to make changes. Those changes start with my attitude. I have to change the way I look at myself. I no longer see myself as the “fatgirl”. I see myself as the beautiful black being that I am. I also have to change the way I see food. I can no longer eat whenever I want to. I can no longer “eat my feelings”.

I’m trying to be a healthier, better me. 💙❤️
