Are you feeling uncomfortable or in pain after a long day at your desk? ๐ฃ
The biggest issue with sitting at a desk all day is ๐๐ผ๐พ๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐!! ๐ถ
A favorite phrase of mine: โ๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ถ๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ป๐ฒ๐
๐ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ!โ That means that you should avoid being in one position for too long โ change positions and get some โmovement snacksโ in your life!
While movement is going to be your biggest friend when it comes to pains from sitting all day, making a few adjustments to your desk setup can also help reduce discomfort. ๐ป
Here are some tips for improving your desk ergonomics:
1๏ธโฃ Adjust your chair height so that your feet are flat on the floor, and your knees are level with or slightly below your hips.
2๏ธโฃ Position your monitor so that the top of the screen is at or slightly below eye level.
3๏ธโฃ Keep your keyboard and mouse close to your body and at a comfortable height. (Shoulders should be relaxed, elbows bent around 90 degrees, and wrists in a neutral position.)
4๏ธโฃ Sit with your back against the chair and use a lumbar support cushion if necessary. (A rolled up towel can work well for this.)
5๏ธโฃ Take frequent breaks! (Include โmovement snacksโ throughout your day!)

REMEMBER: Recovery is not linear!
When recovering from pain or injury, it can sometimes feel like you are taking 2 steps back every time you take 1 step forward.
Donโt be afraid of flare ups.
โSetbacksโ are normal. And while you may have had a small setback, you are likely better now than where you were when you started!
Just keep chugging along. Focus on function over painโlook at what you can do.
๐ง ๐ฆ Tสแดแดษขสแด แด ษชสแดsแดs are things that we hear, think, or say that are scary and threatening. They are almost always incorrect but can be powerful enough to keep or even increase your pain.

What are some โthought virusesโ you have?
Pสแดแดแดษชแดแด: Write them down then change them by rewording them into something ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ!
(We are using this brain exercise in terms of thoughts related to pain and movement, but it can also be applied to other things!)
There are many things you canโt control when recovering from pain or injury. This can be very frustrating!
Here are 4 things you ๐๐๐ฃ control!
1. Yแดแดส แดแดแดษชแดแดแด
แด โก๏ธ You can control your response to challenges and your thoughts (negative to positive). Keep the big picture in mindโfocus on progress not perfection.
2. Yแดแดส ษขสแดแดษชแดแดแด
แด โก๏ธ We all have things to be grateful for even when problems or challenges arise. Focus on what you are grateful forโyou can still find ways to enjoy life even when things may not be going your way.
3. Yแดแดส แดแดแดษชแดษดs โก๏ธ Are you being an active participant in your recovery? You can control whether you are following recommendations you have been given for recovery (i.e., exercises, lifestyle changes, etc.).
4. Yแดแดส แดาาแดสแด โก๏ธ Your actions are half the battleโyou can also control the amount of effort you put into following recommendations you have been given for recovery.

Anyone in the Tampa area interested or know anyone who might be interested? I have been volunteering with Milestones Running Club since earlier this year. It is a great program for kidsโand fun to be a part of as a coach!
Milestones Running Club is seeking NOW an Assistant Coach for upcoming After School programs for two South Tampa schools (and, possibly, park programs), starting in January and February. Commitment is needed immediately, however, due to the finger-printing and approval process required to work in the school system.
This will start as very part time, 1099, but it's rewarding and there is opportunity for growth.
Job description: Assist Head Coach with setting up for class, help manage kids during games and drills, take photos for marketing, assist with clean-up, encourage and push kids to try their best.
