Jack Kerouac Lowell Celebrates Kerouac !
Today’s “John’s Most Iconic Moments” is his strong philosophies.
John Lennon was certainly not a fence-sitter.
It’s unimaginable that today’s pop stars would speak their minds as caustically and often as John did.
Some examples:
“If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there’d be peace.”
“God is a concept by which we measure our pain.”
"I've always been politically minded and against the status quo.”
"Part of me suspects that I'm a loser and the other part of me thinks I'm God Almighty.”
"I was a working-class macho guy who was used to being served and Yoko didn't buy that.”
“Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink.”
“There's no other time but the present. Anything else is a waste of time.”
“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance.”

It was this week (on November 4) in 1968 that Glen Campbell's Wichita Lineman album was released. It was Glen's 7th album and his 7th in a row to reach the #1 spot on the Billboard Country Albums chart - and this one reached #1 on the pop album chart as well staying in that spot for 5 weeks.
It remained at #1 on the country album chart for 20 weeks, only to be replaced by Glen's next album, Galveston in April 1969! Glen reigned supreme. The single became his first Top 10 pop hit and reached #1 on both the Country and Adult Contemporary charts.

I really admired Bob Dylan's work. 'The Sound of Silence' wouldn't have been written if it weren't for Dylan...(Paul Simon)
