Below is a link to an article focusing on two upcoming ballot initiatives, one of which is the renewal of Hillsborough’s half-percent sales tax, known as Community Investment Tax (“CIT”). The CIT has been in place for nearly 30 years and has funded $2.6B in transportation, public safety, parks and recreation, and our public schools. With its renewal, CIT will create over $1.3B over the next 15 years and enable our community to continue to fund key elements of our economic stability and quality of life.

Moving forward, we will continue to keep you informed about the progress of the CIT renewal, any campaign that may manifest around it, and other opportunities to support this critical community funding source.

Could two referendums on Hillsborough’s ballot spell doom for both? Though one’s about buildings and other projects, both support schools. Critics worry voters will reject “double dipping.”
