A "snout out" to Roxann and Mr. Tusk: two beautiful beings that we need to celebrate. Rox is celebrating her "son" Elon Tusk by getting his snout print tattooed on her arm by the very talented tattooist (and Squealers adopter) .

Roxann js our full-time caregiver at the rescue, helping us manage our 40+ piggies every day while Blue and Zack are at work.

Mr. Tusk has been in our lives for almost 5 years now, ever since he was rescued on the side of the road after being hit by a car and left for days before being helped. Both of his rear legs were amputated at the knee joint after his surgical repairs failed. But, he has been living a very happy life nonetheless! Mr. Tusk hates his wheelchair and can scoot around just fine with little help. He spends his days with his momma and two adopted piggy sisters, Penelope and Petunia.

We love Roxann and Mr. Tusk dearly πŸ‘§πŸ–€πŸ·

We cannot rave about Beebop enough! He is simply the sweetest little piggy we have had at the rescue in a long time. He is a figurehead of our foster pigs, usually waiting at the entrance of our Upper Frazer Estates pen hoping for a treat. It is shocking that he still hasn't been adopted! It's been 10 months since his arrival and you can see his joy on his face every day.

Beebop lived his first 5 years with a loving family. He was made to live in the basement by their landlord and didn't have access outside. We got him a much need hoof and tusk trim right away (his one tusk had grown into his face) and it was a challenge to get his weight and crusty under control. Beebop looks absolutely fabulous now πŸ‘Œ

No fussing at mealtime, no trouble with his roommates, and he rolls for a belly rub for ANYONE. He is about 5yo, neutered, and potty trained. He would make a great indoor or outdoor companion, either solo or with another pig. We transport! (With CVIs and blood tests for interstate travel). Apply to adopt today: bit.ly/PSRadopt

Aurora is a lover 😍 This beautiful girl has been so happy at our rescue since her arrival from a hoarding house in July.... sleeping under the stars, napping in the sunlight, and grazing on lush grass. She was once trapped inside living among piles of trash and flies with overgrown hooves. Now she only knows sunny skies.

Aurora is about 8yo and spayed. She would be a very happy indoor or outdoor companion for any family. Aurora is quite talkative and sounds like a little owl πŸ¦‰ She does well with other pigs, too! Apply to adopt here: bit.ly/PSRadopt

Aurora's face bump histopathology results are in.... and the results are a mix of good and bad. Our vet did an amazing job removing and closing the resulting incision considering how tight the skin already was on her face. The incision has healed perfectly! Check out her little sunscreen look today πŸ₯Ή

But, the bump was likely a spindle cell sarcoma. It's a connective tissue tumor that can occur from minor injuries or, rarely in pigs, a papilloma virus. The bump had been left untreated so long that it grew big enough to be hard to remove. Thus the removal margins, though clean, were narrow. We hope that it was totally removed and did not metastasize.

It is very disappointing that her former owners did not get her, or the 3 others, the hoof or vet care that they needed for so many years. The former owners are still neglecting animals, unfortunately. They are being charged for abandoning 6 sickly dogs on an empty property in Butler after lying about their ownership. You read more here: https://www.cranberryeagle.com/2024/08/15/kittanning-women-charged-for-abandoning-dogs-in-clay-township/

Thankfully, Aurora and the 3 other pigs are doing very well! We are so glad for the amazing work that the Armstrong Humane Officers have done on this ongoing case. Want to sponsor Aurora while she waits for her forever home? Head over to our website! Sponsors get a photo and personal card. Sponsorships help pay for feed, vet care, and other needs for our piggies.

Snuggle buddies πŸ·πŸ’—πŸ· Sassy and Beebop can be grumpy roommates sometime, but even they enjoy the company of other piggies. These two live in our special needs pen while they wait for their forever homes. Sassy is mostly deaf but they both just slow-going piggies in general.

Both are fixed and available for adoption! Head over to our website to see our adoptable piggies and fill out our adoption application: bit.ly/pigsatPSR

It's vet day for Aurora and two other piggies. Aurora had the bump on her face removed and as well as few (unexpected) rotten teeth! She arrived at our rescue in early July from a hoarding surrender where she had been living among piles of trash with 3 other pigs.

Her face was with crusted black with dirt and dried f***s, so we were worried about melanoma at first. She kept scratching the bump open, so, along with the scary location, removal was important. The bump is pink and thankfully she is already spayed so her procedure was simple. We'll get the biopsy results soon; let's hope it's benign! Her vet bill today was covered by a very kind officer that helped with the case πŸ’—

Habanero and JalapeΓ±o, which pig is which?!? πŸ·πŸ–€πŸ·

These twin brothers arrived way back in Fall along with 5 other pigs. They were both intact and HATED each other with a fiery passion! Their hatred was likely due to raging hormones. It tooks months to integrate them after their neuters, but they are now happy pen mates.

The easiest tell is Jalapeño's white socks and pink nose spot. But another tell is Habanero is an absolute love bug while Jally is a little shy still. Both love mud baths 🀣

These boys are available for adoption! They are about 5yo, neutered, and would make great indoor or outdoor companions with other pigs. They are easygoing and quiet, too! We offer transport with CVIs and blood testing. Best yet, we support our adopters for the life of the piggy. Apply to adopt tofay: bit.ly/PSRadopt

Helen is still a perfect little precious angel baby 😀 She she has been thriving at our friend's rescue The Bitch Barn, along with her new nanny Piggly Puff (a former Squealer!). Helen is growing like a w**d, for sure 🩷

It has only been 6 weeks since Helen saved herself by jumping off a slaughter truck on to a highway in Iowa. Thankfully, she survived the jump but many, including millions of pigs that never get the chance to escape, die each year before their 1st birthday. Helen now only knows of love and freedom! Please honor piggies like Helen by keeping her friends off your plate. .pig.sanctuary.pa

Sassafras! This beautiful (balding) girl is our longest foster at our rescue having arrived over 2 years ago in March 2022. Sassy is available for adoption, nonetheless. She is 8yo, spayed, easy-going, and pretty independent. We love her very much!

Sassy was abandoned by her owners when they moved away. A Good Samaritan helped care for her for a few months until they asked us to help. She has been a very good girl over the years. It is hardest to find forever home for black pigs, especially older adults like Sassy. She is currently blowing her coat, so don't mind her naked appearance!

Sassy would make a great solo house-pig or outdoor companion for another (bossy) pig. Some transport is available (we do blood testing and interstate CVIs). Apply to adopt Sassy today: bit.ly/PSRadopt

Happy Tuesday from Otis! He is a permanent foster here at Pigsburgh Squealers Rescue due to needing special, daily medication to manage his mood.

Otis arrived here in early 2023 from a shelter. It became evident very quickly that he had some major aggression issues. We aren't sure whether his anger issues are from previous abuse or just a quirky brain, but his violent behaviors made him a danger to humans, other pigs, and himself. Thankfully, we found a combination of medications that mellowed him down into a happy, well-adjusted piggy.

Otis will spend the rest of his days at our rescue. If you would like to help us care for piggies like Otis, please consider sponsoring a piggy! Your sponsorship covers a piggy's food for a whole month.

Thank you to all who came out to our Summer Pig-nic today! Nothing is better than some good friend, great food, and a few pigs to snuggle up to in the heat. Mr. Tusk, Maui, Tani, and Mothman had a great time. Tani was even so overwhelmed with the awesomeness that we left her to nap while attended by a traffic cone 🀭

Shout out to , , and for providing the venue and amazing food for the event. We appreciate all that yinz do to support our rescue! #🐷🐷🐷🐷
