Hidden Treasure Christian School
A special place to learn, grow and unlock your child's potential.
The purpose of Hidden Treasure Christian School is to provide young people who are experiencing academic, physical and/or mental challenges with spiritual, academic and vocational training that will prepare and equip them to accept and pursue God's will for their lives, overcoming by His grace or accepting as His will any obstacles or limitations He has chosen to place in their lives.
HTCS gives our hearty congratulations to Mrs. Saundra (Smith) Loller and her husband, Jim, on their nuptials this evening!
May God bless you as you continue to serve Him!
Participate in a worthy cause…our annual WalkFest will be raising money for scholarship and our garden center greenhouse that will cost $500,000.
We are eagerly raising money in a dollar to dollar matching gift up to $100,000. We want to raise this by the end of December this year.
Our present families have their own link, but if you’re a friend, church member, former/present employee, or valued relative of someone here at school, click on the link below and give whatever amount God puts on your heart.
We enjoyed having a lot families at our parent breakfast today! We sure are blessed and love our parents so much!
Our teachers are making great use of the interactive screens that are in each classroom. Miss Smith is teaching her students about greatest integers and graphing it.
Our Upper Development class took a field trip to Bitty & Beau’s Coffee shop in Columbia, SC today. What amazing opportunities are available to those with special needs. The owner taught one of the students in elementary school and knows another one of our school families.

We are set up and ready to represent HTCS at the Disability Resource Expo downtown Greenville tomorrow afternoon.
We are loving the new polo shirts from Lands’ End!
One of the great blessings of having a church alongside our Christian School is that we are privileged to sit in chapel and hear God’s Word preached to us by one of our pastors.
Mr. Wilson works alongside our Upper Development and adult students in teaching them how to make soil blocks. Today, they planted Cherokee lettuce, as well as dazzling blue and thousand head kale.
We are excited to have everyone back tomorrow! Post your first day pics here if you’d like or send Mrs. Matheus photos for the yearbook.
Crystal is the lead teacher in our EL1 program which services students in the K4-K5 range. She has been in education for 19 years of which 10 of those were homeschooling her own children.
As she begins her 7th year here at HTCS, Crystal says that she loves teaching all the subjects. Growing up, Crystal could never pick a favorite subject, and she says it’s just one of the perks of teaching elementary. She doesn’t have to pick just one. However, she loves books and enjoys teaching children to read. She loves teaching math and all the fun manipulatives that are used to explore and visualize different math concepts. Crystal enjoys science in that it helps students see the order that God has placed in His handiwork. Most importantly, she enjoys teaching Bible, because it helps students learn about who God is and what He wants for them.
Crystal has been spending a lot of time this summer learning more about how to help struggling readers. She is taking two classes on Dyslexia and Reading Comprehension. These courses as well as a special education convention she attended this summer have given new insight and tools to add to her reading instruction.
Crystal says that special education is where her heart is, and having several special needs children herself, she is well acquainted with the unique challenges that students with special needs and their parents face when it comes to their education. “Every person is created by God with a unique purpose, and it is my ministry to help students grow so they can fulfill that unique purpose.”
When not teaching, Crystal can be found hanging out with her family and their four pets. She also enjoys reading or swimming.
Becky is the lead teacher in our EL3 program which works with 3rd-4th grade students. She has been in education for 27 years which includes 20 years of homeschooling and 7 years here at HTCS. Although Becky can be found in her classroom teaching a variety of subjects, she loves to teach science, because it is fascinating to study God’s creation. She also loves the hands-on learning which is a big part of science.
With the new school year fast approaching, Becky is excited to meet her new students as well as see her returning students as she has missed seeing them every day. Like most of our teachers, Becky has spent a lot of time this summer preparing exciting things for her class. She says, “I love special education, because I really enjoy small group and individual teaching. I love it when students grow in their academics and reach their God-given potential. The huge smiles and high fives after mastering a new skill are priceless.”
If Becky’s not in her classroom, she is spending time with her family which includes her grandchildren, reading a book, bird watching, or working in her garden.
Kirk is the assistant teacher in our Upper Development area and directs the Agriculture program for HTCS.
Kirk has been in Christian Education for 39 years and will be beginning his 6th year here at the school. He loves teaching Bible, and he especially loves teaching history from a Christian perspective. You will certainly see a smile come across his face when a child “overcomes” especially out on the farm.
With school starting in a few weeks, Kirk is really looking forward to seeing the possibilities of the agriculture/horticultural program come to our campus for all students. When asked why special education, Kirk said that “special education kids count too. They are what gets me up in the morning to think of ways for them to become more independent and more like Jesus!”
When not teaching or on his own farm and garden, Kirk is finding ways from our Creator to grow more food on the same patch of ground and leave it better!
It’s not unusual to hear the kids hollering out, “Mr. Wilson!”
Kerry Baggett is the Director of Activities at HTCS. He spends many hours planning and preparing for fundraisers, writing grants, and working alongside our administrative staff. He also instructs physical education classes and some music classes. Kerry has been in education for 32 years and has been at HTCS for 9 years. He is actively involved in the church ministry here at Faith Baptist.
Kerry loves the outdoors, and his favorite subject to teach is physical education. He enjoys seeing his students improve their skills. With the upcoming school year only a few weeks away, Kerry looks forward to the opportunities to learn and grow with the students, family, and staff of HTCS.
As Kerry looks back over his career in special education, he is thankful that God directed him here. God gave him the desire and ability to work with students with special needs and their families.
When not spending an exuberant amount of time at the school, Kerry can be found spending time with his family, playing pickleball or softball, working on his house or in his yard, or fishing.
Jennifer Tomlin is the lead teacher in our EL2 class of Hidden Treasure. This class mainly focuses with students in grades 1-3. Jennifer has been in Christian education for the last 25 years but will be beginning her 4th year in special education in a few short weeks. Jennifer and her husband, our administrator, came to HTCS in 2022.
When asked if she would rather be a teacher or work in the office, Jennifer said that she loved her time working in the school office over the years, but her true joy has always been teaching. She loves to teach reading and science. Her favorite topic in science is creation.
With the upcoming year only a few weeks away, Jennifer says she looks forward to having a new combination of students in her classroom and seeing how they will work and learn together.
Throughout her years in education, Jennifer has had a scattering of students in her classroom that have had special needs. She has tailored her curriculum to meet their needs as best as possible. Her passion for helping special education students stems from seeing Christian schools lose wonderful families, because there is no program to help these students. With the huge shortage of SPED teachers in our country, the Lord has put this burden on Jennifer’s heart to work with parents and students to meet their needs.
When not in her classroom or helping students, Jennifer can be found reading or quilting.
Jenny Monier is the lead teacher in our Upper Development area of Hidden Treasure. She’s been in education for 10 years, and she will be beginning her 2nd year here at HTCS in a few weeks. One may find Jenny teaching all sorts of things, but her favorite subject that she loves to teach is Life Skills. She longs to help her students gain confidence and become as independent as possible. Jenny also enjoys working on the farm with her students.
With the upcoming year only weeks away, Jenny says she looks forward to seeing how her students will build upon the skills they learned last year. She is also excited to welcome new students to her bubbly “BEST DAY EVER” class!
As a special education parent herself, Jenny fully believes that each human life is of significant value. She wants to equip her students with the confidence that they were created by a Holy God for a specific purpose. Psalm 139:14 says, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
If you ever see Jenny not working in her classroom or helping students, you might find her in her garden, playing board games with her family and friends, going fishing with her family, cooking/baking new recipes, reading books, or running.

Summer Renovations! So much fun! Something new for everyone!
One of our newest renovations is our reception desk area which will become a work space for teachers.
Our annual GOLF CLASSIC was a “tee”-rific time for the 57 players that came out to play! If you missed out, there’s always next year.
How can we ever say enough to our school families who went out of their way to make this week an extra special time for our faculty and staff during our Teacher Appreciation Week. Today was no exception! We were treated like celebrities with a special lunch and a monetary gift was given to us as a faculty. It was a “Red Carpet” event!
Day 4 of Teacher Appreciation has begun with the joyful “SENSE” of sound as students not only thanked us for teaching them but gave us notecards of how we have influenced their lives for the Lord. Sweetly singing our praises always uplifts our spirits, and we love our school families!
Our noses are tickled that our teachers at Hidden Treasure are “SCENT”-sitive to the students’ needs. It’s Day 3 of Teacher Appreciation and our teachers were celebrated with flowers from all the school families. Each student was also handed a sunflower upon entering the school building to give to their teacher.
Day Two of Teacher Appreciation gave our teachers the “SENSE” of letting us see how much our students and their families appreciate us.
We appreciated all the notes of encourage-MINT!
What a great first day to celebrate a “SENSE”-sational week of Teacher Appreciation! Today was “feel.” Our teachers are touching lives forever!
