In April of 1994, The Friends of the Temecula Public Libraries opened up their first bookstore at the Grace Mellman Community Library to raise funds in support of our city’s only library. The money they raised helped fill the library with extra books, supplies, and programs year-round. The Friends later contributed and secured funding towards the construction of our city’s second library, which opened on December 14th, 2006 alongside a second bookstore location. Over the course of 3 decades and across 2 bookstores, the Friends of the Temecula Public Libraries raised just under $2,000,000 from sales alone!
The American Library Association recognizes October 20th - October 26th as National Friends of Libraries Week. Join us in thanking and celebrating our Friends group now through Saturday! Stop by to say hi to the amazing volunteers in our bookstore! With over 60 members and 70 volunteers, our Friends continue to grow and spread their love for books and libraries. Without them or their support, our library wouldn’t be what it is today or have the community that surrounds it.
Come create origami hearts for our celebration display in the library, apply to become a Friend, and enter into a prize drawing!
*Application drop offs will be in the Friends’ Bookstore. Prize drawing entries open Monday afternoon (10/21). Tickets are available at the library's front and reference desks.
This season of giving, let’s come together to support our community! The City of Temecula & The Youth Advisory Council in partnership with the Temecula Teen Library Council are proud to announce the 2024 Holiday Food Drive!
The Holiday Food Drive runs from October 7th - November 15th. Canned foods and non-perishable items can be dropped off in the collection bin located near the circulation desk. All proceeds will benefit the Community Mission of Hope.
