The idea behind our African market is to provide the residents of Tempe, AZ with traditional products at reasonable prices. This is what caused the establishment of Ako International Market back in 2001.
The founder and manager, Florence Amoako, is an enterprising woman born in Ghana, West Africa. Merchandising, management, and customer service are not unknown to her as she grew up helping her mother in their family store. What has stimulated Florence to open her own shop for African goods was her arrival in Phoenix, Arizona, when she quickly noticed the lack of international services that catered to the local Black and African community.
At Ako International Market, you can find different products for your table, wardrobe, beauty care, or interior décor. As a reputable African market, we never make compromises with the quality of our products. Our clients are dear to us so we strive to offer them the right African goods that will suit their needs.
