In order to prepare for next school year, we need a little bit of your help. The Windows 11 software needs to be installed on all student computers, and all we need you to do is have your student follow the four steps listed in the attached graphic. Thank you so much for your help, please comment on this post if you have any issues.
1. Open your computer
2. Login using student ID & password
3. Leave computer open & plugged into charger
4. Check it after a few hours, and you should be all good to go!

Come join us this Saturday 6/15 for our Summer FAFSA workshop! Our team will be there from 10 AM - 2 PM. Come with a parent or bring a friend who needs help completing the 2024-25 FAFSA form. We will be at the Capital One Cafe ☕️ at scottsdale Fashion Square (coffee shop is near the Apple Store).

More Than a Decade of Dedication to Tempe's Threadz Program - Points of Light Read the inspiring story of Kathy Stevens, who has dedicated more than 1,000 hours of volunteer service to helping equip and empower high school kids.

Congratulations to our very own, Eric Sorenson! Thank you for all that you do for the CTE program.

For the month of June, ACOVA is happy to highlight Mr. Eric Sorenson, CTE Director at Tempe Union High School District.

Mr. Eric Sorenson started his CTE journey as a Law and Public Safety teacher at Desert Vista High School evolving into the role as the Director of CTE in May of 2022. Since then, Eric has made an impact on CTE within the Tempe Union High School District by focusing on positive student outcomes and building relationships with the faculty and community. His commitment to refining and enhancing curriculum, processes, and educating constituents about the importance of CTE, has resulted in more comprehensive and real-world learning experiences. This focus has helped equip students with the practical knowledge and skills needed to succeed in their chosen career paths. His goal is to create learning opportunities for students based on their interests, the needs of the industry while continuing to look toward the future of CTE.

Mr. Eric Sorenson has been an advocate for CTE, forging meaningful connections with the City of Tempe and industry partners. As an integral member of the Great Jobs Great Cities initiative, in collaboration with the City of Tempe, he has helped design career pathways tailored for students within Advanced Manufacturing job clusters. Additionally, Mr. Sorenson has facilitated partnerships between the district and Honeywell, creating internship opportunities that culminate in employment offers from Honeywell for participating students. He has also been active with CTE at a state level. Eric has recently been elected as the President of the ACOVA board. Eric recognizes the inherent value of a hands-on approach to CTE, he champions the opportunities it affords students, and he fosters a clear trajectory from education to employment.

In an effort to assist the recently graduated Class of 2024 with completing the FAFSA, we will be holding Summer Support hours for the next four weeks.

Summer break is officially here! Have a safe and happy break, take the necessary time needed to reset and get ready for next school year. Classes for the 24/ 25 school year will begin on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

Tempe All City Awards May 13, 2024

Our seniors have just one week left until graduation! Ceremonies at each site will be livestreamed from the school's respective page.

Tempe Union Engineering held their annual intradistrict Cardboard Boat Races at the Kiwanis Park Wave Pool. 30 boats from 5 campuses competed for fame and glory, but only one from Desert Vista took 1st place overall in placement. Other awards for Team Spirit, Engineering Design, Best Decorated, and Judges Choice went to teams from Corona, Mt. Pointe and Marcos. It was a day of success and failure, but also a great event to celebrate the students' hard work!

Last week, our performing art students from all six school's participated in the City of Tempe's 'Music Under the Stars' event. Thank you to the city for this partnership!

Families, Mountain Park Health Center will be offering low- and no-cost back-to-school and sports physicals from May 28 - August 31. Every child will also receive a backpack with every checkup, while supplies last. Please check out the attached images for more.

Day two of Banner Sports Medicine's free physicals for Tempe Union athletes is quickly approaching! If you happen to attend/ live near Mountain Pointe or Desert Vista, and are in need of a sports physical, head out to DV Thursday (5.2.24) from between 4-6 PM for a free physical.

Another free physical day will be held on July 25 at Corona del Sol.
