Our first October floral class is almost here! Next Saturday the 5th we will be bringing in Fall with these beautiful woodland inspired mugs!

We will be teaching this technique with floral pin frogs, which are pins designed to have flowers stand straight up. This class will make you believe it’s Fall even when it’s still 100 degrees outside & you get a new mug out of it!

Somehow it is October already and we have some fun spooky inspired events happening!

We have a floral class every Saturday at 2pm! Ranging from different price points & new techniques. We will be doing another cottage core inspired floral class with the cutest mugs that will put you in a fall mood! OF course we’re still doing flower crowns as we know that’s a fan favorite! For the two more Halloween type events we have a dried flower arrangement class & a spooky sangria flower wrap class.

For even more Halloween fun we will be doing crafts at noon every Sunday! More information about the specific craft will be announced the week of it when we provide samples for the craft!

We have some extra special events happening as well that you will have to stay tuned for more information … or dm us and we will let you in on these events earlier!

How can one year feel like a minute and an eternity at the same time?

Melati here with that sappy post Rylie mentioned.

There are moments in one’s life where everything is just as is needs to be. Yesterday was one of those moments for me. As I got to see all the lovely faces who have supported us during this year, I was struck just how much type of support our Wijaya House community gives, not just to us, but to each other. I’ve seen friendships develop, and tears shed over common joys and challenges. I’ve witnessed the power of story-telling as a way to connect and fortify people. I’ve received support in the forms of hugs, a clutched hand, an understanding smile, banana bread, groceries, costco runs, hand-made cards, texts, DMs, photos, and kind words. I will never, ever forget any of it.

Andy and I opened Wijaya House to the public on September 15, 2023.
He was so proud the day of our Grand Opening, beaming ear to ear as Mayor Woods cut our twine ribbon. This photo is from late 2010, before kids, working corporate jobs, Nashville, TN. Houses, kids, a move back to AZ, and a bookshop was in this couple’s future and they didn’t know it.

Today as I reflect on one year in business, I’m overwhelmed by the love and joy that exists in our community. People talk about supporting small businesses a lot, but this community actually does it. Thank you for letting us sell you books, teach you how to arrange flowers, make arrangements for you, coffee club it with you, and share our lives with you.

I hope it’s been as wonderful for you as it’s been for me, Rylie, Riley, Abigail, and Skyler.

🎨Craft Sunday this Sunday the 15th🎨

This is a perfect, low stakes craft & free if you already own a Wijaya House branded glass tumbler!

We’re going to be painting the lids of the cups & sealing them with Mod Podge so the design can be preserved forever!

Hi all!! September is coming soon & we are so excited! In case you weren’t aware we had our Grand Opening in September of last year, we can’t believe it’s already been almost a year of being open!

To celebrate we are having a Cupcake & Champagne party on Saturday the 14th. This is an open house event, so just swing by—no tickets needed. Keep your eyes peeled for more info on special deals, giveaways, and discounts as we get closer to our one-year celebration!

Our Craft Coffee & Book Club (CCBC) is continuing on into September. If you loved it this month or missed out, you can sign up in-store or online.

Flower lovers, we’ve got some blooming awesome events lined up! On the 21st, we’re crafting beautiful flower crowns. Want a private party for you and your friends? Shoot us an email!

Also, in case you were wondering what I was doing the day you were born, I figured out that I was a financial analyst for a health plan and was working on spreadsheets on an old Compaq desktop with a CPU tower and external speakers and I was listening to Steely Dan greatest hits on the exact day you were born. I had two meeting that day. I ate lunch at the cafe in my building. I drove two hours that day for my commute from Gilbert to Midtown Phx. Exciting no?

We have some exciting new events & changes happening at Wijaya House this month!

In case you haven’t heard we’re launching our Craft Coffee & Book Club (CCBC for short), check out our coffee section on our website for more information 🤭 But if you’d like to be woo’d in person come in on August 3rd to see the new Cartel coffee area in person and learn about our August book club pick!

As for flower events this month, we’re switching from Fridays to Saturdays! We will be doing flower crowns on the 10th, flower wraps & cold brew on the 24th and flower wraps & cherry basil smash on the 31st! We are still having Wednesday morning classes for a low stakes, drop-in friendly way to learn about flowers.

For the creative people out there we are doing a tote bag painting workshop on the 11th with our brand new Wijaya House tote bags!

And most excitingly we are celebrating Bookstore Romance Day with & on the 17th! These two lovely local romance authors will be having a Q&A and signing, ticket includes on of their books (of your choosing) & a cold brew drink!
