Things that turn your hair from crisp blond to yellow blond...
1. High heat when styling
2. Hot water
3. Toner fading (they ALL do. Toner lifespan is between 4 and 6 weeks, best case scenario)
4. Hard water (I'm lookin' at you, Phoenicians)
5. High UV rays (I'm lookin' at you, Phoenicians)
Bryce Canyon (not actual canyons, but a series of amphitheatres)
How I like spending summer in Phoenix. NOT in Phoenix.
I feel like they could have done better with this photo...

I was fiddling around with Canva and stumbled on their AI profile pic creator. So I guess Canva thinks I should be thin. And apparently a Realtor.
Self Care Saturday
A piece of advice for all of you who work on your feet.
In case you didn't know, there's a refill program at the salon. If you bring me your shampoo and conditioner bottles, I'll refill them with either sulfate free Pureology Hydrate for $1.60/ounce or sulfate free Redken Color Extend Magnetics for $1.07/ounce. That's more than 50% off!
Now Open on the same corner as the salon!!
I'm so excited to have a super convenient place to get my Taro Smoothie with boba!
When you visit me, perhaps visit Quickly, too and support a small business!
A non hair related -- we could use a break from 80s hair, anyway -- I thought you might like to see something from a scrapbook that has been buried in my closet for about 30 years. I ran for class President. I think it was 6th grade at St. Joe's in Seattle.
And I quote... "I think I would make a good President because I am proud of my school and my class. I would take full responsibility of the duties of president and see that the meetings are run fairly. I think I work well with people and want a chance to work with my classmates. Not only will I be happy with myself if I do win, I will support whomever the class elects as President ...
I didn't win. It was probably Jeannine or Carmela. But I'm not holding a grudge about it 😄
Wellness Wednesday
Who else takes pleasure in routine tasks when their brain can zone out? What are your favorite mindless things to do? Comment below.
I tear and fold a lot of foils. Sometimes this is the highlight (😆 see what I did there?) of my day and sometimes it's the most boring, tedious task of my work-life. So I decided to film it.
I know I am particular about how things are done at the salon but even I was surprised to see 4 minutes and 45 seconds of me being completely OCD about my highlighting foils.
At the start of the year, I enrolled in several business courses, prompting me to prioritize my social media presence. One aspect I've been exploring is filming videos in the salon. Frankly, I'm not fond of my voice nor some of my "valley girl"-ish mannerisms. Did anyone else notice this but choose not to mention it?? What kind of friends are you? 😆
Here they are... My favorite hair care products and tools. Clockwise, Pureology Hydrate shampoo, conditioner and deep hydrating conditioner. Olaplex rebonding treatment, Pureology Strength Cure deep conditioner, Roux Treatment & Shine leave-in detangler, Pureology Color Fanatic leave-in detangler, Redken Quick Blowout spray, Pureology Smooth Perfection blowout lotion and Olaplex oil.
My favorite tools are a Turbie Twist, a silicone scalp massager for really cleansing the scalp, a detangling pic, and a flexible bristle Wet Brush.
Healthier Hair: Mastering the Shampoo Routine
Simple changes at home can significantly improve hair health. While salon-quality products are beneficial, maximizing their effectiveness requires a solid at-home regimen.
1. Prep before showering: Gently brush or pick your hair beforehand to minimize tangles and break up scalp oils (which is the REAL reason you're shampooing).
2. Shampoo sparingly with sulfate free shampoo. Aim for every two to three days to avoid stripping natural oils, while still keeping your scalp clean. A silicone massager is my new favorite tool. It distributes the shampoo more easily and stimulates the scalp and hair follicles.
3. Use products judiciously: Remember that a little goes a long way. Focus shampoo on the scalp and conditioner on the ends. Incorporate purifying shampoos weekly if you use heavy styling or oily, products, and follow with a moisturizing or protein mask for processed hair.
4. Invest in tools: Keep a pick in the shower to distribute conditioner evenly and minimize product usage. Avoid tearing through tangles, especially when hair is wet and vulnerable. A Wet Brush is a gentle alternative to a standard brush that can easily damage wet hair.
5. Gentle drying: squeeze hair dry or wrap it in a Turbie Twist instead of rubbing vigorously to prevent knotting and damage to the cuticle layer. A smooth cuticle reflects light and maintains hair health and shine.
Sunday vibes in the salon. I'm going to miss these cool, door's open kinda days...

I love my Balance meditation app. I've been using it regularly for almost 6 months. It's the only one I've stuck with and I see much improvement in my ability to direct my mind inward, which is a wonderful place to be these days. Here is a link if anyone wants to try a free year.

Oh I LOVE these transformations!
Beauty can be any age, it’s not limited to youth only, look at this gorgeous client’s face and smile, it says it all. Beauty is about confidence, strength, and being yourself, raise your confidence and acceptance of who you are because you are all beautiful when you are yourselves.
I started this transformation by misting the hair with k18 mist, then weaved the whole head starting from where her gray roots starts in foils using redken flash lift power 9 with 20 vol leaving her gray roots out for about 4 hours by foiling the hair based on her root gray pattern very thin sections for faster and even lifting until I reached level 10 pale yellow blonde, I then added a low lights based on the client roots pattern by using redken gels 1/2 5AB + 1/2 7Ab mixed with 10 vol for about 30 min to create that salt and pepper look. I Then rinsed hair, toned with redken shade eq 10T with processing solution for 20 minuets, rinsed, shampooed, used K18 Hair pro leave in mask , styled with round brushes.
Total service: 8 hours, one session, one day.

I do appreciate consistent curls and rarely see them but sometimes a girl wants straight hair. If you want to talk about getting a semipermanent smoothing treatment that lasts up to 3 months, just ask. Feels like buttah...
