The Bedford Township fire department would like to thank Mancino’s Pizza in Temperance for donating our dinner for Fridays fireworks coverage. Thank you for reaching out to us and we appreciate your support.
For those in need, the Bridgepoint Church has opened their doors to our community as a cooling center. They are located at 9875 Lewis Ave. Temperance, Michigan. 48182. We thank them for helping our community in a time of need.
Today, your Bedford Fire Department was able to reunite a family of ducks after a mother lost some of her ducklings in the sewer at Secor and Sterns. Several compassionate people took time out of their busy schedule in an attempt to help the ducklings before calling the fire department. It was this single act of kindness from our residents and visitors which allowed our crews to find and remove the ducklings from the sewer.
This is what makes Bedford Township the best place to live, work, and visit.
We want to thank Bedford Township board members and Representative William Bruck for their presentations to Roger Brushaber and Jeff Brushaber last night to celebrate these firefighters and their dedication to the community. With a combined 80 years of service, we thank these two gentlemen and their families for the service you have given.
On behalf of Bedford Township Fire Department, we would like to thank Marathon Corporation’s Community Investment Program for awarding us a $2,500 grant. This grant will be used to purchase additional hose to help our crews return to service quickly after a fire. We also appreciate the community partnership with Marathon and look forward to another joint training in the near future. A special thank you to Chief Bankowski on her success in obtaining another grant for Bedford Township.
We pause to honor Firefighter Roger Brushaber as he approaches his final shift on Tuesday, March 19th. Firefighter Brushaber embarked on his journey with the Bedford Fire Department on February 4, 1973. Throughout his dedicated service, Roger held various roles, including Assistant Chief, and has been an unwavering pillar within our department for many years. Notably, he also served his country in the United States Army and raised four children. As he transitions into retirement, we will miss Roger and the unforgettable stories he shared. Our warmest wishes go out to Mary and Roger as they embrace this new chapter.
This past week the Bedford Fire Department had the opportunity to participate in the annual “Shop with a Hero” event. This event was sponsored by Meijer’s in Monroe and put together by the Michigan State police.
This was a great night for families across Monroe County.
A friendly reminder of our upcoming EMT course.
Happy Halloween! 🎃
If you see our vehicles in your area tonight, feel free to send your trick or treaters our way! We will have crews around the township passing out candy. As a reminder, trick or treating is from 6-8 PM.
Have a safe and fun evening! 🍬
Due to the forecast of rain all day this coming Saturday, the Bedford Fire Department Fire Prevention Day is cancelled.

Today a group of our firefighters took part in a 9/11 memorial stair climb, climbing 110 flights of stairs in remembrance of the FDNY first responders who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
