There's nothing like a chilled glass of lemonade to beat the heat. Celebrate with your favorite recipe, whether it's classic, pink, or with a unique twist. How do you like your lemonade?

The Wasco County Fair and Rodeo is a family friendly event held the third weekend in August. The Fair kicks off with Family FREE Day on Thursday (thanks to Waste Connection), so bring your family and enjoy the livestock, crafts, demonstrations, Circus Acts, Interactive Games, Godfrey The Magician. On Friday you'll find all kinds of the same interactive Games, Godfrey, Masters Family Circus, and Live music after the rodeo. On Saturday it will be all hands on deck with all the activities, games, with rodeo and beer garden in the evening and Live Band Music after that to dance the last night away. After the rodeo on Friday and Saturday night you'll want to stay in your seats for the Google Drone Light Show that will go up over the rodeo arena with 150 drones shining brightly!! Sunday we will have the Cowboy Church Service with Breakfast served up by Safeway and then Demolition Derby at 11am. So much fun to be had during this year's Fair and Rodeo that you won't want to miss it!

One of our residents shared this yummy dessert recipe, for Browning/Cookie Bars
Ingredients:
1 C butter
1 C brown sugar
1/2 C powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
3/4 bag of chocolate chips
1 and a half or so cups of flour
Instructions:
Pre heat oven 325. Beat softened butter and sugar and eggs and vanilla beat together. Add flour and chocolate chips bake 35 to 40 minutes. Cool and serve

Kicking off with the “Neon Cruise”, Friday evening, downtown The Dalles. It’s an “open” cruise, just like back in the day, so just show up and start showing off (NO burnouts however). It starts around 7pm and extends well into the night.

1. Unplug Unit and Remove Grates and Filters - "Then, remove the grease and charcoal filters,"

2. Wipe Down Range Hood's Exterior - To clean the exterior, use a mild soap and water mixture, which should aid in the degreasing process. "Simply fill a spray bottle with warm water and a few drops of dish soap,"

3. Soak Grates and Filters - Don't forget about soaking your grates. "Removing them is simple, as is soaking them in warm, soapy water to clean out any of the channels. Rinse them and place them back."

4. Scrub Filters If Necessary - For stubborn spots, try a nonstick pan-cleaning brush with soft bristles—never use abrasive sponges or scrubs on materials like stainless steel or wood.

Looking for something to do this summer? It's the time of year for ICE CREAM! You will likely be able to smell the enchanting aroma of freshly made waffle cones before you enter Shannon’s Ice Cream. The shop makes over a dozen ice creams and sorbets in-house and you can taste the love and care that go into them. The owners live above the shop and are passionate about bringing joy to people through ice cream. Grabbing a cup or cone is one of the best things to do in The Dalles. You may want to arrive early on a nice day. Popular flavors can sell out! Enjoy freshly made ice cream and sit out on the porch. The environment is relaxed and family-friendly. Dogs are welcome to sit with you outside. Cost: About $5

1. Only electric BBQ's allowed at Sunrise Estates I & II Apartments.
2. Keep your grill clean by removing grease build up in the trays below the grill
3. Keep the grills at least 10 feet away from buildings.
4. Keep children & pets at least three feet away from the gilling area.
5. Never leave your BBQ unattended.
