Doulas have so much compassion and love. This is why I am transitioning from the nanny world to the birth world. I feel like supporting new parents with postpartum care fits me.

It's World Doula Week! I'm on such an amazing journey as I have trained and certified as a postpartum doula. There are so many wonderful doulas out there supporting families in their communities. Here's to all the doulas of the world. I'm fortunate to be able to transition from my nanny career to becoming a doula, and soon to be able to support families in my community. Let's doula this!

What is a Postpartum Doula? And what does a Postpartum Doula do? These are questions I was asked when I started training to become a certified Postpartum Doula by friends and family. A Postpartum Doula provides physical, emotional, and informational support to new parents. This is a big transition for a family adding a new little human to the existing family dynamics, whether this is the first child, second, or third. There is a transition that takes place. A Postpartum Doula will help the new mom or parent deal with baby being home from the hospital in whatever capacity is needed. That could be be just a person to listen to the birth story or how hard it has been to get some sleep, unloading a dishwasher quick, making lunch, or holding the baby so the parent can get a nap. A Postpartum Doula will give you that much needed support.
