Phase II of the this master suite Reno finally happened. Shallow roof and oddly assembled wall framing was a perfect match for some moisture proof closed cell foam insulation. Finished off with rock wool at the bedroom parting wall to keep bathroom noises, in the bathroom.

A recent new construction project that is going to benefit from placing its mechanicals (hydro air-air handler & ERV) in conditioned space. If you have to place your mechanical systems in an attic, make the attic conditioned.

Hard to believe there are still buildings around southern new england with no wall insulation. They exist. Very rewarding to improve the efficiency and comfort of these buildings with our efforts.

We’re in the trenches today…. Literally. Another local brewery needs insulation help. We’re on it!

Who says single level ranches are boring? Not with a great room like this. Ranch rebirth.

Whats in a name? That which we call a shed dormer. A shed dormer of any other name would look & function as sweet.

This indoor grow space was suffering from some bad condensation issues. The ceiling started raining as soon as the cold weather set in. 4.5” of closed cell foam insulation applied to the corrugated roof and condensation has been eliminated. Thermal barrier thickness of an intumescent coating applied over the closed cell provides 15 minutes of fire protection.

This is one of those “heat it with a match” type of buildings. R-value elevated. R-84 at the attic floor blown with 24” of cellulose. R-40 at the rim joist with open cell foam insulation. R-45 at the exterior walls with 12” of dense packed cellulose.

This early mid century boat house has been converted to jam session space by the new home owner/music enthusiast. With minimal heating equipment, the space will be more comfortable this winter with upgraded insulation.
