I'll bet everyone has been wondering "What's going on w/ Numismania." Well I don't know where to begin!!! Let's go back to earlier this year when the madness started. I don't want to make this to long, and I'll try to keep things more updated. So here are some highlights from the past few month's.
On Valentines day Feb. 14th 2023 the BNA held the elections for club officers. Due to circumstances I would rather not get into, the current club president at the time, and vice president respectively resigned from their positions at the January meeting. I was honorably appointed club president. On Feb.14th it became official. And now I am currently president of both coin clubs here in Western New York. As most of you know I have been the Niagara Frontier Coin Club president for the past several years. And now Buffalo Numismatic Association has put their faith in me to take the club into the future. So as you can imagine writing for both club newsletters, attending meetings and club functions and running Numismania, I haven't had much time to maintain fb.
Our local coin shows like most around the country have been well attended. The BNA monthly bourse is not far from having a dealer waiting list. This is something we have not had in quite some time. The average coin show attendance has been over 300 people since the beginning of the year! And our inventory is better than ever!! Just a few things we have picked up in our travels /1909-S VDB Lincoln cents PCGS F15 and NGC MS61 both gorgeous examples!! 1916-D mercury dime PCGS VG8 tough coin to find in any grade lately!! We have a gorgeous first year 1936 brilliant proof Buffalo Nickel PCGS PF65 w/ CAC sticker!!! Oh is it early copper you want well i have most lage cent dates in stock 1795-1814 mostly in lower grades. I'll try to post some pics of this great stuff and some of the recent shows.
You can catch us at the Polish Falcons GDK Coin and Stamp Show this coming Sunday May 21st, on Columbia Ave. Depew NY. After that we will be at the Universal Coin and stamp show in Fairview Park Ohio. I will follow up this post with some summer coin show dates and early fall. Oh yea and if it's silver rounds your looking for, we just got a long awaited shipment from Upstate Gold and Silver!!! We have plenty of sharp fresh 1oz fine silver rounds all minted in the ever popular Buffalo nickel/ Indian head design(call for pricing)!!!
So Numismaniacs remember for all your numismatic needs Numismania Coins and Collectables is your one stop shop!!!
Thanks and stay tuned for more frequent updates!!!!

Greetings Numismaniacs!!!
Yes, it has been sometime since our last post. So let me update everyone on what's been going on the past few month's. Summers are short here in Western New York, and must be fully taken advantage of. From backyard bbq's and vacations, to graduations and weddings, there is not much time left for socializing with my FB friends and groups.
So now it's time to get back to the grindstone. After missing the Buffalo Numismatic Association's 1st ever July coin show, do to our annual family vacation in Thousand Islands NY. I was surprised to hear when I returned home, this show was possibly "The Most Well Attended" BNA show of the year!
A couple weeks after that found us on our way to the American Numismaniac Association's World's Fair of Money, held in Chicago Illinois. Our good friends Doc & Carol Hobika of Doc's Coins, also from Buffalo shared their table with us. Since the 2nd ever Buffalo Numismatic Association August coin show was scheduled for that upcoming Sunday, we packed up Friday night and were back in Buffalo Sunday morning for the show. Along with a couple other people that were in Chicago, specifically BNA President Ed Hammond of Running Bear Coins and Dempsey & Baxter from Erie PA. The BNA hosted another record breaking show. Despite being notoriously the busiest weekend of the summer, not to mention ideal outdoor weather conditions, over 200 devoted collectors came out and showed their support of the hobby!!
Last night Christina and I attended our good friends Peter and Michelle, daughters wedding. An absolute perfect end of summer event. What started out a perfect summer day, transitioned into an early autumn evening, something you will not experience anywhere except Western NY. Although we had to cancel our monthly trip to the Universal Coin and Stamp Show in Ohio this month, you can catch back up with us next Sunday @ The Knights of Columbus, Union Rd. Cheektowaga NY for The Buffalo Numismatic Association's 3rd Sunday of the month Coin Show. Followed by the GDK Coin and Stamp Show, @ Polish Falcons Columbia Ave. Depew NY.
And then be sure to catch us @ the Niagara Frontier Coin Club 3rd and final show of 2022!!! Sunday October 9th @ the Lewiston #2 Firehouse, Rt. 31, Saunders Settlement Rd Niagara Falls NY!!!
I'll have flyers posted and more info on all these upcoming shows in the days and weeks to come!!! For table info, dates or times call or email me anytime. David @ 716-796-8552 or [email protected]. God Bless you and God Bless America!! Now take a few and enjoy some photos of our newest purchases vacation pics and travels we've enjoyed this summer! We hope you all found some time to make some memories, share time with loved ones and enjoy the greatest hobby in the world!!!

Good afternoon & Happy Memorial Weekend Numismaniacs!!!
Well I just returned from another numismatic adventure. After Christina and I returned home from our monthly trip to Ohio for the Universal Coin and Stamp Show. The next couple of days found my lovely wife preparing my luggage, for the Early American Coppers Club Convention taking place in St. Louis Missouri this year. As you all know, Christina is usually by my side as we travel around from coin show to coin show. But this particular event I attend with my good friend and fellow EAC member Bill McMahon. Usually when I've attended this convention in the past it was strictly a pleasure trip, but this year I submitted 3 coins to be offered in the Saturday night auction.
At 3am Wednesday May 11th, Bill and I started out on our 760 mile drive to St. Louis. A few days before on Monday the 9th, I contacted John Wright, who is the authority on middle date large cents dated 1816-1839, and also the author of "The Cent Book" a must have guide for attributing the many varieties listed for each year. After confirming Mr. Wright would be attending the convention, I made arrangements with him to bring a copy of the book along for me to purchase.
The following day, Thursday the 12th started the festivities. First off I had pre registered Bill and I for the counterfeit detection and grading seminar given by my friend Jim Carr, which as usual was fun as well as educational. The next couple hours were spent catching up with friends and colleagues that we hadn't seen since 2019 before the pandemic shut things down. Then back to our rooms to get ready for the reception dinner that evening.
Friday morning the 13th, Bill was knocking on my door bright and early. After a killer St. Louis breakfast at the Golden Pancake Cafe, we headed back to the hotel where the bourse was opening at 9am. Out on the floor, my first order of business, find John Wright which I did with no problem. After properly introducing myself, Mr. Wright and his lovely wife Mable Ann presented me with my first edition copy of "The Cent Book". Upon receiving my book I pulled out a sharpie and asked for an autograph. Without hesitation he opened to the first page, which he had already personalized, autographed and dated in the most beautiful penmanship and style, and said "will this do". Flying back upstairs, I safely stored my book in my room, then returned to the bourse floor. I immediately found Chris McCawley's table and started searching for one of the eight elusive coins I need to complete my date set from 1793-1857. Not 10 minutes into my search and BAM!!! There it was, a problem free 1810 Classic Head large cent in a brand new ANACS holder, sporting a personalized Chris McCawley Early Cents Auctions label, graded fine 12. Exactly what I had been seeking for the past couple years. After making a great deal with Chris to top things off his lovely wife presented me with a 2022 EAC comerative shirt. As things were winding down and Bill and I were talking about dinner, we passed a table that had a half cent book Bill had been searching for. While Bill talked to the dealer, I started looking at a, although I didn't know at the time was an autographed first edition of Roger Cohen's "The Little Half Sister" half cent book. Signed on 12/27/71 just days after the books release and three days after my 3rd birthday, I had to bring that back to my room with me also!! With things wrapping up early that evening, I took a ride into the city and found some authentic St. Louis BBQ at Red's. Rib tips and 1/2 chicken dinner was my menu selection and WOW!! My mouths watering just thinking about them!!
Saturday morning May 14th started like the rest, breakfast at Golden Pancake then off to the coin show, where for the past two days I volunteered some time on the auction lot viewing table. While helping out there I got acquainted with Rochester NY native John Bailey and also met Jerry Siable, my good friend Brian Trietley's Charolette NC, coin club president. I also got to meet Grady Frisby, EAC treasurer and Shawn Yancey well known EAC member and dealer. Not to mention a host of others that I absolutely enjoyed showing coins to, and conversing with. That evening at the auction things, as my friend Brian and I would say "got silly". I decided earlier in the day that the big coin I was going to take home from the convention, would be lot # 350 the "Wright Plate Coin" for the varietie in "The Cent Book", and the possibly finest known 1837 N-15 /R-3 large cent. With an impressive provenance to boot, this coin is documented from 10/26/56 French's auction to Dr. Ken Sartoris to a man I never had the pleasure to meet but after attending his memorial at EAC 2019,I have been fascinated by his life story, and have felt a connection with so much, I bought a coin pedigreed to his collection in last years auction, also a 1837 but variety N-9. After Mr. Bland took ownership of the coin from Dr. Sartoris he sold it to C. Douglas Smith who in turn sold it to Jerry A. Bobbe (who happened to be my ANA instructor when I attended Summer Seminar in 2019) who sold it back to Del Bland in 1977 who sold it to John Wright where it remained in his collection until 2009 when he liquidated at EAC sale 4/18/2009 lot # 372 then it made an appearance at a Goldbergs auction on 9/1/2019 lot # 434 and then being the highest bidder Saturday night it has now become part of my collection as of 5/15/2022, for me to cherish, persevere and be the caretaker of, so future generations of collectors can track, research and enjoy this wonderful coins history. My 3 coins also did exceptionally well that evening, making for a perfect numismatic experience.
After staying up to late the night before 8am came quick. Out of bed showered, shaved and packed, I grabbed Bill and while updating him on my auction experience, we ran down to catch the general meeting slated for 9am. After the meeting we said some quick goodbyes and back on the road hoping to arrive back in Buffalo before midnight.
Back home I had to go check out a coin collection Monday morning, followed by a Niagara Frontier Coin Club meeting that evening. The NFCC meeting was literally off the hook!!! With over 45 members in attendance and being the club president, I went home that night feeling like a rock star to say the least!!
Thanks to everyone in EAC and NFCC and all our loyal friends, customers, readers and followers for making a most memorable week or I should say "life" in the greatest hobby on earth. Until next time enjoy the pictures and keep collecting, educating and promoting numismatics!!!
Your friends, David & Christina @,

That's it for now happy collecting and hope to see you at one of the upcoming shows!!

Photos from Numismania Coins & Collectables's post 04/29/2022

Good evening Numismaniacs!! Let me start with saying I am sincerely apologetic for my lack of posts and updates. Although we have been on a hectic and busy schedule for the past few months, it's no excuse for not keeping all you Numismaniacs updated on whats been going on in the hobby and with us. Lets start with a few of our new purchases. We have been working overtime seeking out fresh deals, scouring dealer inventories and paying the highest prices for quality American classic coins, currency and exonumia. And speaking of American classics, check out that 1899 $5 Indian Chief Silver Certificate, definitely one of the top 10 most sought after and prized large size notes. Another favorite design among collectors, the Indian Head or "Buffalo" Nickel series minted from 1913-1938, is also where you will find what is probably the second most significant error coin of the 20th century. Second only to the 1955 double die Lincoln Cent is the 1937D 3 legged Nickel. An error that occurred at the hand of an over zealous mint employee, who's attempt to extend the life of an already overworked reverse die, resulted in the over polishing and removal of the bison's right front leg. A minor mistake that created a major rarity, considered by many to be a must have variety in any serious collection. Up next is probably "the" most famous 20th century coin. Sought by everyone and anyone who has ever opened a blue Whitman penny folder, is the coveted Holy Grail of Lincoln Cents the 1909S VDB. This coin was designed by Victor David Brenner to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln. Upon completion of his masterpiece Mr. Brenner added his initials to the lower reverse between the 2 wheat ears, that give this small cent it's nickname the "wheat cent". Soon after it's debut and just shy of minting 500,000 coins, production was stopped do to public outcry. It was said that the boldness and placement of the designers initials was egotistical and inappropriate and should be removed. The VDB was removed creating the first key date rarity of the 20th century. Nine years later in 1918 the initials would be put back on the coin, only this time they were placed more discreetly on the obverse under Lincoln's bust. Next we have 2 classic silver dollars, an 1802 Draped Bust and an 1872 Seated Liberty. Both of these coins scream America and are oozing with patriotism. A true symbol of Americas strength and pride, these silver dollars have adorned many collections and have been carefully handled and stored by there previous caretakers. Last but far from least, is a odd little coin with an odd denomination. A product of coin hoarding that took place during the Civil War, it's composition and denomination never gained much popularity with the public or collectors. The 3 cent nickel as it has come to be known, does have an important roll in the history of American numismatics. Minted from 1865-1889 this coin has mintage figures from over 11 million coins in 1865 down to a mere 1,000 coins in 1885 and proof only issues in 1877, 1878 and 1886 then wrapping things up in 1889 with 18,125 coins. In 1881 they had an unusually high production of just over 1 million coins, after several years of declining mintage's. Luckily for those who collect by type, (a method of coin collecting that requires one example of a coin from each series including modifications made to the coin within it's series such as arrows added or removed at date or obvious changes in the bust of Miss Liberty ect.) an early collector with foresight and consideration towards future generations of collectors, plucked this particular coin from circulation not long after it made it's debut 140+ years ago. I hope you all enjoy the pics and stories that define these items as true American Classic Rarity's. If you would like to inquire further about price and availability on any of these recent additions to our inventory, contact Christina or myself and we would be happy to further assist you. Also we currently have 16 coins that have been sent out for grading and encapsulation, so look for those pics and descips coming soon!! And don't forget to look for my coin show and convention update, will be posted this weekend and hopefully we see you at a upcoming show or event!! See us at a show, mention your a Numismaniac and follow us on Facebook and receive a free average circulated 90% silver U.S coin!!!(denomination my choice) Until next time, collect, study, educate and enjoy and remember this is the hobby of King's
