Congratulations are in order again! JMD's Taylor Brown was awarded the APWA's New York State Young Leader of the Year Award. She was recognized at the State conference last week. Congrats Taylor!

It was an exciting night at the APWA NY Chapter Western New York Branch Awards Dinner last week. Our team was on hand to see Taylor Brown awarded Young Leader of the Year, as well as see several projects we participated in win projects of the year, incluing:

Congratulations to our very own, Taylor Brown, EIT, for being selected as the recipient of the 2023 Young Leader Award from the APWA NY Chapter Western New York Branch. The APWA Young Leader award was established to recognize and encourage young APWA members who have demonstrated and initial commitment to the profession and association, as well as show potential for future growth. Taylor serves on the Board of Directors for the Western NY Branch and as a member of the Student Liaison Committee. You may also recognize her as the Young Professional Chair organizing events and activities to encourage young professional participation.

This was fun! A few weeks ago, we were thrilled to be recognized as one of the University of Buffalo's . Named in honor of UB’s founding in 1846, Fast 46 recognizes and celebrates the success of 46 of the fastest growing businesses owned or led by UB alumni or former students around the world. This is the first time JMD has been recognized (we were #16) and we look forward to remaining on the list!

Check out this article about the work going on at the Southtowns Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facility in Erie County (we're mentioned!) JMD assisted DiDonato Associates Engineering and Architecture, PC with the design of the replacement influent screw pumps at the head of the plant. The pumps are 8.5-ft in diameter and over 40-ft long, so no easy feat! If you look really close, you can see Jaime in the corner of the photo for scale.

Our team is growing again! Taylor Brown, EIT joined JMD a few weeks ago. Taylor has six years of experience working in and around the Greater Buffalo Area. She'll be helping with a lot of our upcoming field work and inspections and getting back into design! Welcome Taylor!

Looking good! JMD was excited to finish up construction inspection for this Buffalo Sewer Authority job. These RTC projects are great examples of some of the awesome infrastructure under our streets!

Buffalo Sewer is thrilled to announce that we have completed construction of our Broadway at Oak Smart Sewer Project keeping 7.2 MG of Combined Sewage out of the Buffalo River each year. Broadway between Elm & Oak is open to traffic!

PDG recently completed the Stones Falls Road Bridge Superstructure Replacement project in the Town of North Dansville, Livingston County, NY. The project replaced a 41-ft single span stress-laminated timber superstructure with prestressed adjacent concrete beams at the same span length. The replacement superstructure was built slightly wider than the existing to accommodate two 10’-0” travel lanes and two 4’-6” shoulders.

We're growing again! We're excited to announce that Tiphaine Ketch, PE, CFM has joined our team. Tiphaine is a Water Resources Engineer based out of Rochester who will be a big help in deepening our bench and helping us better serve our clients. Welcome Tiphaine!

LaBella Associates named lead civil engineer for Bills stadium construction LaBella will be responsible for site design and permitting for the $1.4 billion stadium project, working closely with lead architectural firm Populous and the Buffalo Bills.

Welcome Alexa, our Summer 2023 intern! She's a rising junior at UB, studying civil engineering with an environmental concentration. Alexa is interested in all aspects of civil and environmental engineering, especially water/wastewater, so we are excited to involve her in our many projects in design and construction. Fun fact: Alexa is from Kenmore, NY and lives just a few blocks away from our Town of Tonawanda office. (We promised not to ask her to cut the grass or check the mailbox.) We're looking forward to a fun, productive, and educational summer with her on board!
