We had a little accident of the smelly kind the other day, and this was our fix. Most carpet cleaners contain the ever-mysterious ingredient “Fragrance.” This is a generic term that can apply to many different chemical compounds, many of them synthetic. I used Lemon, Grapefruit, and Clove to refresh our carpet and clear the air of unpleasant smells. It worked great!

No, not your awesome red-headed cousin, but Zingiber officinale. There have been some interesting studies done on the effects Ginger essential oil may have on the body, particularly about inflammation.
A study done in 1994 and published in "Pharmacolocy" suggested that Ginger has "potent anti-inflammatory and/or anti-rheumatic properties."

A study published in The Journal of Natural Medicine (2011) looked at how the anti-inflammatory effects might be happening. Their conclusion was that Ginger essential oil works to calm leukocyte activity, an anti-inflammatory mechanism.

A bit about Ginger...
DoTerra's Ginger is sourced from Kenya and Madagascar where they have partnered with hundreds of small-scale farmers.
Ginger is planted in the spring and harvested in the fall or winter when it has matured.
The rhizome--different from the root--is the subterranean stalk from which the root system grows.
This rhizome is steam-distilled when fresh, producing an essential oil with a better chemical and aroma profile.

I used Ginger heavily in the early months of my pregnancy. I got tired of just sniffing it from the bottle and started putting a dab right under my nose. It seemed to help my swirling tummy. It also helps if I’m stuck in the back seat of the car.
It’s a warm oil, so dilute for topical use.

Okay, ladies, who has experienced discomfort at that time of the month? There are over-the-counter options available, but I'm willing to bet those don't have the added benefits of improving circulation, digestive function, and freshening your breath!

Reach for your Fennel instead. There are no side effects, it's cheap, and it's extremely safe.

Geranium has a sweet floral scent that helps promote healthy skin and calm nerves.

This little messy missy woke up the other morning with a terrible diaper rash. The severity of it made it look like chemical burns. Seriously, some of the skin looked like it was blistering. She was miserable, and I felt terrible.

🙌 Thankfully I have some solutions at hand. In the past I've used diluted Rose oil, and it's helped the skin return to normal color. But I couldn't find it when I was triaging the caustic load and trying to hold the flailing legs away from the mess.
