We’re helping kids see in India! Today, Johnson & Johnson Vision executives - along with more than 200 Lions and the Lions Clubs International Foundation - celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Sight For Kids program with a vision screening event for more than 500 students at the Lions Safari Park in Kolkata. The event included a vision screening, games, and book bags for the children.

In 2002, LCIF and Johnson & Johnson Vision co-founded Sight For Kids, the largest-known, school-based eye health program, which aims to equip low-income and underserved communities with tools critical to providing all children with equal access to quality eye healthcare.

Established in 1991, the Lions Eye Hospital in Ghaziabad has been providing diagnostic and treatment services for people with cataract, glaucoma and refractive errors in the Indian town of Ghaziabad and nine neighboring districts. With the help of a SightFirst grant awarded by LCIF, Lions in India have added a retina clinic to increase the hospital’s capacity to detect and treat individuals with diabetic retinopathy. The new retina clinic detected diabetic retinopathy in over 900 people with diabetes, and saved the sight of over 170 people by providing laser treatment and retinal surgery.
