Both Grantsville and Stansbury football teams were eliminated from their respective playoff games Friday night.
In its 4A second-round playoff matchup against Ridgeline High, the Stallions struggled to establish the run game early while contending with the Riverhawks’ stifling defense. Despite keeping the game close during the first quarter-and-a-half, Ridgeline finished the first half leading 42-14 and never looked back.
On the night, the Stallions recorded only 86 total rushing yards, with much of their offensive yardage coming off Ridgeline penalties.
Final score: Ridgeline 52, Stansbury 21
Grantsville fell 21-13 to the Canyon View Falcons during Friday’s 3A quarterfinal road game. After falling behind 21-0 in the first half. Grantsville made a push and scored 13 points to pull within a single score. A failed red zone drive, in the game’s last minute, sealed the Cowboys fate and the Falcons advanced to next week’s semifinals.
Final score: Canyon View 21, Grantsville 13

All three Tooele County schools came up short last night, with Grantsville losing at home. Tooele and Stansbury, who were both on the road, lost as well.
For the Cowboys, a late push wasn't enough to overcome a 35-0 first-half margin by the Manti Templars. Despite stringing together two scoring drives and putting the Templars on their heels in the fourth quarter, Grantsville ultimately fell 38-14 to go 0-3 on the season.
Stansbury's matchup against the Ridgeline Riverhawks was neck-and-neck, as both teams traded two TDs apiece in the middle frames. A missed PAT in the last minute of the third quarter proved costly for the Stallions, which led to a 28-27 loss.
Similar to Grantsville's game against Manti, the Buffaloes fell behind in the first half against the Pine View Panthers. Trailing 24-7 heading into the third quarter, Tooele was outscored 34-14 and dropped a 58-21 contest.
