Is your trackpad not working? Computer looking a bit wonky? Battery not holding a charge? Your Computer has a battery inside with a life expectancy of 2-5 years Once your computer battery comes to its end of life it cause cause issues beyond just not charging, your battery can bloat and either ooz stuff into your computer, or cause a fire (yes true story) .

If you ever get suspicious messages such as this example it is a scam, they will take over your page, message friends, ask you and your friends for money

This one will be This Thursday for Adults to learn about surfing the web!

What is a remote access scam??

In a remote access scam, You might receive a pop-up, cold call, call from “Microsoft”, Google a number off the internet, A scammer will tell you your computer has been infected with malware, Spyware, illegal images, Data loss.
The company will then offer to Remote into your computer, This allows the Scammer to navigate your computer as if they were sitting right at it in your chair. At this point to remove “Problems” They will ask you to pay a fee, Once they are on your computer they can see everything you can see, they can easily access your bank accounts, online shopping, files saved.

They may ask for payment in form of credit card, bank card, gift cards, They may offer to return funds.
All of this information will lead to financial gain for them and loss for you.

To avoid falling prey to this scam, The minute anyone says Remote into your computer Hang up.
No payment with Gift Card is ever legit
No Company will ever need to remote into your computer for any reason
If in doubt give us a shout and we can guide you on what to do.
But the best advice is to hang up and do let anyone into your computer even

*If you are silver plan(platinum and gold) the computer store can remote in, but never will unless we are actively on the phone with you, with one of our in store techs*

Here are some tips to keep you , your computer and your loved ones safe online:

When in doubt, shut it down. If you can’t close a browser window to get rid of a fake virus-warning pop-up, try to reboot the computer. “If I’m really stuck, I just pull the plug,”

Don’t ever call the phone number in a pop-up. Legitimate tech companies will never ask you to call a phone number or click a link, according to the FTC.

If you get an unsolicited call, email or text telling you that there’s a problem with your computer, ignore it. Real tech support staffers will never contact you out of the blue.

Be wary of anyone requesting remote access. Don’t let an unknown, unverified person get into your computer or device.

Resist pressure. Scammers urge targets to act quickly to protect their computer or bank accounts. That sense of urgency is to prevent you from having time to think clearly and question their behavior.

Spilled your choice of drink on your laptop?????

IT IS PHISING SEASON!!!! Dont go grab your fishing poles just yet! This is a diff type of Phishing,

This Phishing is Fishing for your personal information, passwords, bank account information

We have attatched examples at the bottom, The Best form of method to stay safe is to not click on unknown email links, contact the company directly to confirm its them from a number you have...
Do not give out your password or Bank account information ever.

Here are some ways to recognize a phishing email:

Urgent call to action or threats - Be suspicious of emails and Teams messages that claim you must click, call, or open an attachment immediately. Often, they'll claim you have to act now to claim a reward or avoid a penalty. Creating a false sense of urgency is a common trick of phishing attacks and scams. They do that so that you won't think about it too much or consult with a trusted advisor who may warn you.

Tip: Whenever you see a message calling for immediate action take a moment, pause, and look carefully at the message. Are you sure it's real? Slow down and be safe.

First time, infrequent senders, or senders marked [External] - While it's not unusual to receive an email or Teams message from someone for the first time, especially if they are outside your organization, this can be a sign of phishing. Slow down and take extra care at these times. When you get an email or a Teams message from somebody you don't recognize, or that Outlook or Teams identifies as a new sender, take a moment to examine it extra carefully using some of the measures below.

Spelling and bad grammar - Professional companies and organizations usually have an editorial and writing staff to make sure customers get high-quality, professional content. If an email message has obvious spelling or grammatical errors, it might be a scam. These errors are sometimes the result of awkward translation from a foreign language, and sometimes they're deliberate in an attempt to evade filters that try to block these attacks.

Generic greetings - An organization that works with you should know your name and these days it's easy to personalize an email. If the email starts with a generic "Dear sir or madam" that's a warning sign that it might not really be your bank or shopping site.

Mismatched email domains - If the email claims to be from a reputable company, like Microsoft or your bank, but the email is being sent from another email domain like Gmail.com, or microsoftsupport.ru it's probably a scam. Also be watchful for very subtle misspellings of the legitimate domain name. Like micros0ft.com where the second "o" has been replaced by a 0, or rnicrosoft.com, where the "m" has been replaced by an "r" and a "n". These are common tricks of scammers.

Suspicious links or unexpected attachments - If you suspect that an email message, or a message in Teams is a scam, don't open any links or attachments that you see. Instead, hover your mouse over, but don't click the link. Look at the address that pops up when you hover over the link. Ask yourself if that address matches the link that was typed in the message. In the following example, resting the mouse over the link reveals the real web address in the box with the yellow background. The string of numbers looks nothing like the company's web address.
