The 2024 Wichita session is a wrap!

Highlights included Kansas Aviation Museum, learning about community development with Empower, ICT entrepreneurship and non-profits, and Keeper of the Plains history in its 50th year as one the state’s most iconic symbols. Tours also included Exploration Place, Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., and Wichita State University Innovation Campus.

Thanks to our local chairs who made the session such a success! Next month the class is headed to Manhattan and North Central Kansas.

The class of 2024 had an amazing tour of western Kansas, learning about the unique culture, history, and economy of this part of our state.

The session included visits to local businesses, educational institutions, and historic landmarks in Dodge City and Garden City, including Boot Hill Distillery, Hilmar Cheese Company, Inc., Tyson Fresh Meats Foodservice Team, Royal Dairy, Brookover Ranch Feedyards, and Garden City Community College.

Next month: Wichita and south-central Kansas!

Congratulations to the 2024 Leadership Kansas alumnus of the year, Marty Vanier, DVM.

Dr. Vanier is the Director of the National Agricultural Biosecurity Center with a distinguished career as a veterinarian and animal science researcher. She graduated from Leadership Kansas in 1990, and now serves as the Local Program Chair for the Manhattan LK session.

Welcoming the Emerging Leaders class of 2024!

The full-day session in Topeka had a packed agenda:

-Welcome and orientation from KEL Board Chair Manroj Sangha, Empowered Engineering and program directors Aaron Miller and Jessalyn Hollenbeck.
-Kansas History presented by Kansas Chamber President & CEO Alan Cobb.
- Bus Buddy assignments, including "Get To Know You" interviews.
-Leadership Training from Brandon Gaide, Sevenfold.

The day concluded in the evening with dinner, drinks, and bowling at The Pennant Topeka with KEL alumni.

June's session is heading to the Kansas City Metro!

The 2024 LK class has its first session under its belt! The three-day experience included Lawrence and Fort Leavenworth, exploring a full range of topics including:

⭐️Deep dive into Kansas history.
⭐️Get to Know You interviews with bus buddies.
⭐️Leadership lessons from University of Kansas Head Volleyball Coach Ray Bechard at the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena, plus volleyball skill lessons from University of Kansas Volleyball student-athletes.
⭐️ Panel discussion on artificial intelligence and its impact on business panel discussion that promised to shape the future of business in Kansas.
⭐️Tour of The University of Kansas Innovation Park and Peaslee Tech, showcasing the cutting-edge advancements and educational opportunities brewing in our state.
⭐️ Fort Leavenworth, learning about the rich military heritage that is a cornerstone of leadership development.

Next session is focused on Southwest Kansas, including Dodge City and Garden City.

The Leadership Kansas Class of 2024 started their year-long journey today at orientation. Lessons learned?

The Kansas Emerging Leaders Board held their first meeting of 2024 today, welcoming new Board Member Lee Modesitt with The Trust Company in Manhattan.

The 2023 Leadership Kansas class last week had its final session in Ft. Riley, Manhattan and Topeka, followed by the class’s graduation! Congratulations to the program’s new alumni!

Stops included Fort Riley, Camp Funston, Fort Riley-Camp Whiteside, Victory Park, Cantigny Warrior Restaurant, Kansas State University, Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Brown vs. Topeka Board of Education Museum, Topeka Zoo, Frito-Lay, Kansas Bureau of Investigation Forensic Science Center, Washburn University School of Law, Kansas Contractors Association, Kansas Statehouse and Townsite Topeka.

The 2023 Kansas Emerging Leaders class traveled to Northwest Kansas last week for another great session, with stops at Grow Hays, Hess Services, Inc., Sternberg Museum of Natural History, The Fort Tavern & Patio Bar, Hays Public Library, Pfeifer Lease, ARC Park, Paisley Pear, Frontier Apartments.

The 2023 Leadership Kansas class last week enjoyed valuable learning and networking opportunities during its Northwest Session in Salina. Stops included The Prickly Pear Grill and Cantina, Vortex Companies-KS, Acoustic Sounds, Salina Country Club, Schwan's Company, Pure Imagination, Kansas Highway Patrol Training Academy, Renaissance Café, Pfizer, Kansas Wesleyan University and Land Institute.

The 2023 Leadership Kansas class had a great time last week during its South Central session. Stops included Wichita State University, Textron Aviation, Mark Arts, BG Products, BG Products Veterans Sports Complex, El Dorado Correctional Facility and the Cosmosphere.

The 2023 Kansas Emerging Leaders class enjoyed a fun and informative Kansas City Metro session earlier this month, with stops at BNSF Logistics Park Kansas City Intermodal Facility, Union Station Kansas City and Kansas Speedway.

The 2023 Leadership Kansas class recently had orientation and its first 2023 session in and . The class enjoyed food, fun and memorable opportunities to learn firsthand about culture and industry in Northeast Kansas.

Marlou Wegener won Alum of the Year and the Class of 2021 won the Loyalty Trophy!

Session 1 stops included Dole Institute of Politics, Allen Fieldhouse, The University of Kansas, Lawrence Beer Company, Peaslee Tech, Boys & Girls Club Teen Center, Stevens & Brand, LLP, Fort Leavenworth Visitor Center and Army University.

As one of the oldest and most prestigious statewide leadership programs in the country, Leadership Kansas is focused on developing and motivating Kansas leaders from across the state.

Leadership Kansas received more than 600 nominations for the 2023 program. After a thorough and thoughtful application and selection process, the selection committee chose 40 individuals for the 2023 class. The committee and the Leadership Kansas Board of Advisors make every effort to ensure the class reflects the state in regard to geographic, ethnic, occupational, and gender diversity.

Stops included Fort Riley, Cantigny Warrior Restaurant, Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce, KSU Bill Snyder Family Stadium, Brown Vs Board of Education Historical Site, The Evel Knievel Museum, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Kansas Statehouse, and KBI Forensic Science Center.

The 2022 Leadership Kansas class had a blast during its fifth session in / . Stops included Children's Mercy Park, Overland Park Chamber of Commerce, Intermodal, Union Horse Distilling Co., KU Edwards Campus and Centurions Leadership Program.
