The 2024 Wichita session is a wrap!

Highlights included Kansas Aviation Museum, learning about community development with Empower, ICT entrepreneurship and non-profits, and Keeper of the Plains history in its 50th year as one the state’s most iconic symbols. Tours also included Exploration Place, Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., and Wichita State University Innovation Campus.

Thanks to our local chairs who made the session such a success! Next month the class is headed to Manhattan and North Central Kansas.

The class of 2024 had an amazing tour of western Kansas, learning about the unique culture, history, and economy of this part of our state.

The session included visits to local businesses, educational institutions, and historic landmarks in Dodge City and Garden City, including Boot Hill Distillery, Hilmar Cheese Company, Inc., Tyson Fresh Meats Foodservice Team, Royal Dairy, Brookover Ranch Feedyards, and Garden City Community College.

Next month: Wichita and south-central Kansas!

Congratulations to the 2024 Leadership Kansas alumnus of the year, Marty Vanier, DVM.

Dr. Vanier is the Director of the National Agricultural Biosecurity Center with a distinguished career as a veterinarian and animal science researcher. She graduated from Leadership Kansas in 1990, and now serves as the Local Program Chair for the Manhattan LK session.

Congratulations Dr. Vanier, and thank you!

Welcoming the Emerging Leaders class of 2024!

The full-day session in Topeka had a packed agenda:

-Welcome and orientation from KEL Board Chair Manroj Sangha, Empowered Engineering and program directors Aaron Miller and Jessalyn Hollenbeck.
-Kansas History presented by Kansas Chamber President & CEO Alan Cobb.
- Bus Buddy assignments, including "Get To Know You" interviews.
-Leadership Training from Brandon Gaide, Sevenfold.

The day concluded in the evening with dinner, drinks, and bowling at The Pennant Topeka with KEL alumni.

June's session is heading to the Kansas City Metro!

The 2024 LK class has its first session under its belt! The three-day experience included Lawrence and Fort Leavenworth, exploring a full range of topics including:

⭐️Deep dive into Kansas history.
⭐️Get to Know You interviews with bus buddies.
⭐️Leadership lessons from University of Kansas Head Volleyball Coach Ray Bechard at the Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena, plus volleyball skill lessons from University of Kansas Volleyball student-athletes.
⭐️ Panel discussion on artificial intelligence and its impact on business panel discussion that promised to shape the future of business in Kansas.
⭐️Tour of The University of Kansas Innovation Park and Peaslee Tech, showcasing the cutting-edge advancements and educational opportunities brewing in our state.
⭐️ Fort Leavenworth, learning about the rich military heritage that is a cornerstone of leadership development.

Next session is focused on Southwest Kansas, including Dodge City and Garden City.

As one of the oldest and most prestigious statewide leadership programs in the country, Leadership Kansas is focused on developing and motivating Kansas leaders from across the state.

Leadership Kansas received more than 600 nominations for the 2023 program. After a thorough and thoughtful application and selection process, the selection committee chose 40 individuals for the 2023 class. The committee and the Leadership Kansas Board of Advisors make every effort to ensure the class reflects the state in regard to geographic, ethnic, occupational, and gender diversity.
