Need a fire extinguisher? Thanks to The Home Depot we have fire extinguishers free for residents while supplies last! Unfortunately, no, Firefighter Baden does not come with the extinguishers.

Stop by any day between 9-5 to grab a free extinguishers until they are gone!

Press Release:

At 10:32am on June 16th, Topsham Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the Androscoggin River for a reported plane crash. A single occupant/pilot crash landed his plane in the river after an apparent mechanical issue. The pilot self extricated and was picked up by two local kayakers and brought to shore. Topsham units used their boat to retrieve the patient and brought him to Topsham ambulance that was staged at shore, and transported him to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Topsham units were assisted by Topsham Police Department, Lisbon Fire Department, Maine Warden Service & Brunswick Maine Fire Department. DEP & FAA have been notified. Scene has been turned over to the proper authorities.

We are excited to officially welcome Katie Jacob as our newest full time firefighter/paramedic!

Katie has been per-diem with us for the past year, while completing her Fire I/II certification.

Katie has been a paramedic for two years and is a great asset to our department and town!

Location: 6 Carons Corner, Topsham ME

Summary:

At approximately 15:45 on 6/4/24, the Topsham Fire Department responded to 6 Carons Corner, for a reported structure fire. The first arriving unit on scene found a single-story residence with smoke showing. Initial fire crews made an interior attack and contained the fire to the Kitchen/Living Room area. There was a significant extension into the attack space which was eventually suppressed.

Topsham fire crews were assisted by Brunswick Fire, Bowdoin Fire, Lisbon Fire, Freeport Fire, Bath Fire, West Bath Fire, and Freeport Fire. A 3rd alarm was called to bring in extra manpower that did not respond to our 2nd alarm request.

No one was home at the time of the fire. After investigation, the fire was determined to be accidental. No injuries were reported.

Yesterday, we concluded hosting a 3 day Basic Pumps course which included members of our department and surrounding departments. Captain St. Pierre taught the class. Students learned the ins and outs of pumping a fire using multiple different apparatus and water sources.

Yesterday, crews responded to Lisbon for a structure fire. Lisbon had two structure fires occur simultaneously (unrelated) and we were happy to assist!

A Shift took advantage of the warm weather today and did some pump training!

We had the privilege today to have a group of recruits from the U.S. Navy come to learn about the fire service and many of the overlapping skills between both navy and fire.
