One of our favorite lower body circuits to help improve stability in the knees, ankles and hips. Our balance and stability classes are Monday and Wednesday at noon.
ATY. This is one of our favorite exercises that we prescribe to our shoulder patients. This is definitely a bit more advanced training the rotator cuff. With a supinated grip pull straight down to your side to form the “A”, with a neutral grip pull hands straight out to your side at shoulder height forming the “T” and with a pronated grip pull hands up and over head to form the “Y”.
We were able to send our PT aide, Chancellor, to get certified in eldoa 1 and 2 this past weekend. Learning all of the eldoa’s of the spine we are looking forward to seeing the applications as he works to better patient wellness.
The paloff press or multifidus holds is an exercise that we prescribe to a number of our back patients. These holds work to strengthen the smaller stabilizing muscles, multifidi, surrounding the spine. Each hold can be done with the different foot positions shown and held for 10 - 60 seconds. Those needing help with balance and and trunk stabilization should do this exercise as well.

Happy Friday everyone!!! We wanted to introduce our newest member to the team Allen DeWit, PT.
Allen earned his doctor of physical therapy degree from the University of Southern California in 2003 and has been caring for patients in the South Bay since 2005. He has experience treating a diverse range of patients across the life span with a caring and individualized approach. He specializes in orthopedics and sports medicine along with custom foot orthoses fabrication. He enjoys a busy life with his wife and two daughters along with a passon for church life, basketball, and most things USC. He is excited to join the TherEx Station family to continue serving the South Bay for many years to come.
We see a lot of hip and knee patients here at TherEx Station. Here is one of our favorite isometric exercises that is great to do at home and will will help stabilize the hip and knee. The stork pose. You want to take a ball and bring it to knee height between you and a wall, holding it in place with your knee. Raise the foot closest to the wall while standing on the opposite leg. Attempt to rotate or push your knee into the ball with moderate force. Press into the ball for 10 seconds at a time with 5 sets in each leg.
Happy Tuesday everyone! We want to introduce one of our physical therapy aides here at TherExstation, Martina Ricabar. Martina received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in clinical movement science and is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology at Cal State Fullerton. She was a competitive tennis player for 7 years, has taught tennis fundamentals and assisted coaching high performance juniors. Her initiative and enthusiasm are apparent in everything she does at TherEx.

Help unlock your lower back with these three different poses. These eldoa poses work to decompress the spine in different segments. Be sure to hold tension through out the body for a minute each. We hold eldoa classes Thursdays @4:30pm and Saturdays @8:00am where we instruct and teach different poses. combat falling by practicing your balance. tandem balancing with shoulder turns is a great balancing exercise. we want to work to decrease the chance of falls which decreases the chance of injury.
Not just planks but super band planks where we add resistance and drop the knees to isolate and force the core into more stabilization.

The L5-S1 ELDOA position is essential for spinal health and taking daily stress and pressure off the the lower back.
